As for the Yoruba - I was taking the opportunity to practice. Took me some time too. Realized how easy one can lose the language if not spoken everyday! Ma mu ra si.

Maybe its just the Yoruba ones or just the older folks but a lot of the younger groups like UIU, Umu Igbo Alliance, NIYA, YICAN and the group we started in Houston Igbo Development Group (IDG) are serious about preserving our culture and also helping our people back home by organizing projects. We already have 1 this year and we are raising lots of $$ for it. Check our new site time to time for updates. Igbodevgroup.org

These organizations are so not necessary unless it's sole purpose is to teach the Yoruba kids the philosophies of ancient Yorubas. anything away from that becomes political and you the Yorubas just joining the organization for partying reasons (True talk). All they do is party together no visions. This guy's son just graduated from Harvard yaayy!!!!! we are going to his house to celebrate yay!!! I just got that nursing job yay!!!! we should celebrate!! My husband is now the chief doctor in the hospital yay!!! we are celebrating this weekend!!!! My husband just got his permanent residence yay!!! we are celebrating it!!!. My wife just got refugee status yay!!! we are celebrating. My husband just got a cab job yay!!!!! we are drinking to it.


It's same shi-t on a different day in different place. If I go to Vancouver to visit my mum, same thing happens. Or when in NYC, it's same ol crap. I don't relate with Nigerians that much at all. I'll rather organize with people that shares a common global vision. These Yoruba organizations here are wak as fuc and I'm surprised the average age there is 39. Wackos!! Don't join any tribal or racial organizations, they are ridiculous,
