I have never been in support of ex-situ conservation. This is one of the reason.

Many of these zoological gardens can't take care of the animals, I guess that's why the University of Ibadan Zoological garden is inarguably the best in Nigeria.

Yesterday i took my family to Abuja children recreation and zoo close to WU Bassey barrack behind aso rock and i was disappointed with the animals i saw there.

Look at the camel i saw there. It looks very hungry. No flesh in its body.

I couldnt take picture of other animals because of low battery.

Dogs do eat selected leaves or grass whenever they feel some bowel discomfort.

You were disappointed with the state you found the animals? Is this guy sick? In a time when humans in Nigeria are struggling, starving, and boiling in the crucible of hardship, you wouldn't have been disappointed if animals were well-fed? grin

On a more serious note, if corruption is now the new MTN, always present everywhere you go in the country, and the thieves extending its tentacles would deprive the people and impose suffering on them to make their own stomachs swell, it shouldn't be a surprise if they extended the same hand to our animal friends, 'blessing' them with the same harsh reality.

May God help our country Nigeria
Something is really wrong in this country even animals that supposed living their good life in the wild, (according to God's wishes for them) are also suffering from the economy. Brethren? Take your bible, open to 2chronicles 7:14. May the Holy Spirit interpret it for you.
