The Action Democratic Party (ADP), has welcomed the UK Prime Minister, Ms. Theresa May to Lagos State.
The party, in a statement by its spokesman, Prince Adelaja Adeoye, appealed to her to join other stakeholders in advising Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to make his government transparent.
ADP alleged that over the years, the budget of the state has been shrouded in “secrecy”.
The party said: “Democracy cannot thrive without accountability and transparency in government.
“One of the set back hampering the socio-economic and political developments in Africa is corruption and lack of access to information.”
ADP said one of its cardinal objectives in its quest for developmental stride in Lagos is to field a competent candidate for governorship seat and other elective positions.
The party, however, praised UK government for signing an agreement with Nigeria on how to improve Security and economy, stressing that “such will further strengthen the relationship between the two countries and also create millions of jobs for our youths”.
