The ongoing nationwide Permanent Voters' Registration being conducted by the Independent Electoral Commission is simply a disaster! While it might have been successful in some centers, what I experienced in Zone 3, Wuse Abuja, registration center today speaks loud of the abbysmal inefficiency in the system. Over five hundred Nigerians willing to vote, and clamouring to be registered, INEC could mobilise only two personnel staff to do the registeration. On daily basis, the staff are only able to attend to a hundred persons, while the remaining four hundred plus would go home frustrated. If this could happen in a city that is ought to be fairly well organized and adequately mobilized, one wonders what will be going on in suburbs, villages and other densely populated and less urban localities. Unfortunately, INEC will shamelessly go on air to claim to have conducted an efficient voters registration exercise.
If PVC registration is not extended beyond 31 August 2018, many elegible Nigerian voters will be disenfranchised.
