The Peoples Democratic Party said it had uncovered an alleged plot by President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress to use the party’s direct primary to validate their plan to rig the 2019 general elections, particularly for the President, who it said had become grossly unpopular ahead of the elections.

The PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, in Abuja on Saturday, said that the main opposition party was aware that the Presidency forced the direct primaries on party members to eliminate delegates’ participation and pave the way for the allocation of millions of conjured votes.

Ologbondiyan said that the APC and Buhari were planning to use the votes as a basis to authenticate the alleged fictitious votes they intend to declare for President Buhari at the general elections.

He said, “Having eliminated contest within the APC, the Presidency, which is now apprehensive of apathy against President Buhari due to his increasing unpopularity, plots to import non-members of the party to satiate the venue of the presidential primaries to create an impression of overwhelming popularity for Mr. President and use that to validate the fictitious votes they are conjuring for the Presidential election.

Those who are jst 2 emotiinal to reason independently like u have done will end up getting disappointed if these ppl ever emerge. This is not to say APC is any better. I was really suprised when ppl suddenly started shouting pdp when APC started struggling. I was expecting ppl to advocate a totally different alternative rather than going back to the vomit which has caused us unimaginable pain and suffering for so many years. People should know that the PDP is just a conglomeration of those who are desperate to return to the positions of economic privilege they have lost. I really just pity ppl wh believe their propaganda. I will vote for a candidate outside of these two parties and have a clear conscience!!

APC seems to have business with all the prospective aspirants in the PDP. It’s only normal that PDP does back.

A direct primary means every Tom Dick and Harry who is a registered member of the party in that Ward, State and Federal Constituency, Senatorial Zone, State or Country, can participate in the primary elections of that political party, to pick a candidate for the respective elections.

This is in contrast to the current system where only some select few termed as delegates are allowed to be the only voters in the primary. These same delegates are already preselected to favour the leanings of the godfather or party leader of the political party in the Country/State/Ward.

And these same delegates are usually chaperoned, dictated to and paid to ensure the outcome desired by the godfather or highest bidder.
