Jihadist violence resurfaces in Nigeria: Boko Haram continues to crack down in the north-east of the country. Nigerian army forces were attacked Thursday (August 30th) at the Zari military base, near the Niger border. Thirty soldiers were killed according to military sources, it was Saturday, September 1. This is at least the fourth such attack in two months.

The attack allegedly took place on Thursday between 4 pm and 5 pm at the Zari military base in the northeast. An anonymous military source describes a powerful strike force, assailants armed with heavy weapons, probably stolen from previous attacks. Thirty soldiers would have lost their lives, the army would have been forced to withdraw before reinforcements arrived. Terrorists were later killed in the bombings.
