Moving to Besiktas was supposed to provide Loris Karius with a clean slate to move on from his Champions League final demons and start afresh in a new country, but his debut in Turkish football suggests there might not be an immediate upturn in his fortunes.


His big error came in the 86th minute as he misjudged a cross with fatal consequences. Yusuf Erdogan centred the ball and the German misread the situation, stepping out of his goal and Diafra Sakho was able to turn the ball into the goal at Karius’ near post.
