Honourable Evwierhurhoma Jonathan Onoriode is an aspirant of the Ughelli North state constituency 2 for the Delta state House of Assembly come 2019.

He was until recently the immediate past Executive Personal Assistant to the DESOPADEC commissioner representing Ughelli North and the Urhobos in Patani Local Government Area.

He was also the Delta Central coordinator, Deltans in diaspora during the 2015 gubernatorial election campaign of His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. He is a grass root politician and mobilizer of the masses in support of PDP.

In this piece, he extols the great virtues of His Excellency, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

Gov Okowa was indeed a revelation in Delta state haven risen through the ladder of political office to the apex of positions in Delta state. This is the first time Delta state people will be experiencing something different from the usual.





A governor with the interest of the people at heart and so many innovations to drive the economy into an enviable height.



Economist have projected Delta state to become an industrial hub like Lagos state due to the entrepreneurial initiatives being put in place by Dr. Okowa.

I have travelled through whole South-South states but I have never seen anywhere that projects have been distributed evenly all round the state even in the midst of dwindling monthly allocations.

He highlighted some of the key areas the governor have been working on and still going further to touch several other areas.



Education: The government reconstructed the state-owned technical colleges in Agbor, Ofagbe and Sapele and five other technical colleges. This was informed by its desire to promote technical and vocational education, which is at the core of its educational policy. There are over 3,385 classrooms renovated, reconstructed and well equipped. There are over 4, 113 youths trained in Vocational skills.



Job creation/Youth Empowerment: The government trained a lot of youths under the Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP) and made provisions for them to start their own businesses. Other people were trained under the Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme (YAGEP).

Mr. Okowa’s administration also introduced a new programme – Graduate Employment Enhancement Programme (GEEP), designed to cater for unemployed graduates. The programme will run on a pilot scale. So far, the government has created over 20,000 private sector jobs.



Road infrastructure: The government constructed 298 roads projects covering over the state (including 113 kilometres of concrete-lined drains) . A further construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation and completion of roads across the state. Some of the roads are Oteri township roads, Ughelli, Oleh/Emede/Olomoro road, Owhe-Ologbo/Abbi road, Idumu-Ughoh road, Agbor and Ejinyere/Orode road, Orerokpe. Others are Alisimie-Ozanogogo road, dualisation of Nnebisi road, Asaba and Sapele road from Amukpe junction to AT&P, e.t.c.



Health: The government focused on infrastructural development of hospitals and primary health care centres as well as the procurement of drugs and cutting edge medical equipment in major health care facilities in the three senatorial districts. To this end, some of the places the government have touched, the Teaching Hospital at Oghara, the Central Hospital, Asaba, e.t.c, people have been praising the governor for them.

Environment and Urban Renewal: Construction of Storm Drainage System in Asaba to end the perennial flooding in the town. Other key towns and cities are also receiving attention
