Hey, but i thought dis same ibikunle amosun was a former senator b4 he became gov, wat does he wnt to go and do ther again. Nigerian politicians ar so selfish. I wil continue to respect former gov of kogi state ibrahim idris who was once asked after his tenure of gov on wheather he wil contest for senate or nt. To my amase d gov said he wil not, but rather let other pple also test the mantle of leardership rather than him been selfish bcus he lead the state atlarge rather contrling a zone. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Retirement plan. That is to tell you how useless, lazy and unintelligent nigerian politicians are even with the outrageous salaries they earn plus the money they steal. None of them always have common sense to start reasonable huge businesses and focus on it while they are out of politics. They are so intellectually lazy that they just want free government money. This is the same useless governor that's always claiming Awolowo used cocoa money to develop south west. I wonder why he cannot use his salary plus all looted funds to start a large scale cocoa farming if indeed it is as profitable as they claim. They will always wait till south africans, lebanese or indians come in to start the business then they open their dirty mouth and start shouting pay your tax. Same way Ben bruce failed totally in managing his business and quickly ran to contest for senator so he can be collecting free money. They think using brain to do profitable business is easy. midolian:Bros... You are so so on point here... They will keep on amass wealth to themselves only, never allow the governance to circulate. After his 8 solid years as a governor, he want to run for the post of senate how will development reach every corner of the nation. Even in the village, If a councilor is well plan for the future, you can never hold the post and go bankrupted. I didn't blame the so called overfed politicians, I blame the nonchalant attitude of the electorates whose common 5k can easily derail their thinking capacity. Shioor... This Nation is curse. 1 Like 1 Share |

Atiku Case History. From 2000 to 2008, Jennifer Douglas, a U.S. citizen and the fourth wife of Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and former candidate for President of Nigeria, helped her husband bring over $40 million in suspect funds into the United States through wire transfers sent by offshore corporations to U.S. bank accounts. In a 2008 civil complaint, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission alleged that Ms. Douglas received over $2 million in bribe payments in 2001 and 2002, from Siemens AG, a major German corporation. While Ms. Douglas denies wrongdoing, Siemens has already pleaded guilty to U.S. criminal charges and settled civil charges related to bribery and told the Subcommittee that it sent the payments to one of her U.S. accounts. In 2007, Mr. Atiku was the subject of corruption allegations in Nigeria related to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund. Of the $40 million in suspect funds, $25 million was wire transferred by offshore corporations into more than 30 U.S. bank accounts opened by Ms. Douglas, primarily by Guernsey Trust Company Nigeria Ltd., LetsGo Ltd. Inc., and Sima Holding Ltd. The U.S. banks maintaining those accounts were, at times, unaware of her PEP status, and they allowed multiple, large offshore wire transfers into her accounts. As each bank began to question the offshore wire transfers, Ms. Douglas indicated that all of the funds came from her husband and professed little familiarity with the offshore corporations actually sending her money. When one bank closed her account due to the offshore wire transfers, her lawyer helped convince other banks to provide a new account. In addition, two of the offshore corporations wire transferred about $14 million over five years to American University in Washington, D.C., to pay for consulting services related to the development of a Nigerian university founded by Mr. Atiku Abubakar. American University accepted the wire transfers without asking about the identity of the offshore corporations or the source of their funds, because under current law, the University had no legal obligation to inquire. |

What surprised me most is that this Amosun Guy left been a Senator to become a Governor now he wants to return to the senate after serving two terms. 8 years in the Senate- 8 years as a Governor- 8 years in the Senate again that makes it 24 years in Government as a Politician. Will still collect Pension as a Governor and as a Senator. Just look at how this people have finished this country. |

midolian:Being in Senate for 16yrs is not the problem at all. The problem is doing the right thing. It doesn't make any difference if you elect someone else so long as the grand plans don't change which is CALLING THEM TO ACCOUNT if they loot public treasures or not executing their official duties. There are senators of 30 or more years in the US. Take John McCain for instance. Re-electing senators is not the problem. The problem is, what the heck they do there. You can elect other people and they had still do nothing for you. Grand structure (which include their responsibilities. That's what you need to challenge. Nigerians don't challenge them because of lack of awareness of their rights. 4 Likes
