In the past, to be a person of integrity, one must distinguish himself and avoid people and acts that may cast aspersions on his hard earned name and reputation.

Recently, on the occasion of the NBA conference, the Acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu adviced Nigerian senior Lawyers to always ask their clients their source of income before accepting legal fees from them. Magu said this in his critical statement against the lawyers as he accused them of receiving fees from corrupt people whose source of wealth could be questionable.

Whether Magu was correct or not in the above statement is not the concern in this post. However, Magu may have erroneously applied the code of conduct of public office holders to a supposed transaction between lawyers and clients.
What is interesting in all this is that public office holders are now receiving gifts and supports or whatever we may call it and that is not good for an integrity-conscious society like Nigeria.

In the the slogans of the All Progressive Congress (APC), integrity is an important word as it was attributed to our President, Muhammadu Buhari.

In the 2014/15 presidential election; Buhari made it open that he had no 29million naira for the form to contest the officemof the president. He however got the form and ran a campaign that cost billions of naira, cruising in private jets belonging to individuals whose source of wealth are questionable.

Our President has indicated interest to recontested the high office of presidenct of the FRN, and once again, a group of faceless persons have gotten him the form which now cost 45million naira. It could be called a gift, goodwill or an assistance, but the only thing bad in it is that the word INTEGRITY does not fit the practice of receiving monetary gifts from possible questionable individuals and groups by a reputed party/persons.

Hasn't the word integrity been bastardized already by our politicians?

see as you just they mumu yourself for public forum undecided. So it's a crime to buy form for someone they believe in him in your village? Or don't your know their is right of choice in nigeria constitution?

From my own point of view, the greedy and corrupt politicians who are desperate for power thereby doing anything to get it has actually lost their integrity in the process, in 2015, some group of politicians were working for positive change, but in recent times this people have decided to fight the change process because it does not favor their selfish interest which is not good for our democracy.

Your are compromised. We all cannot be in your shoe. Integrity requires uprightness that do not compromise principles. If Muhammadu Buhari is a man of integrity he will come out clean and reject this courting from corrupt people.
If APC is a political party operating based on the he principles of integrity, they will reject forms being bought for its members by faceless group who would rather hide under secrecy to do things incognito.

Don't tell me this comment you made here is your best response to this fraud called "form purchase for his Excellency".

In return the beneficiary of the free form will reward them with......

1). You lied by saying "right of choice" exists in our ground norm.

2). It is an offence to transact a business worth 45 million naira in the name of another person without disclosing the actual name(s) of the payee.

Yarimo, I had assumed you to be a very intelligent person. Don't make me see you otherwise.
In your transactions at the bank, you are aware that both natural persons and companies are mandated by law to disclose the source and destination of all transactions above 1million naira and above 5million naira (as the case may be). Failure to do that is a crime.
Here 45million naira have been moved to purchase form for our seating president by nameless persons and it doe not unsettle you as we fight corruption in this country.

Let me as you Yarimo: if all the other presidential hopefuls, especially in PDP, 13 of them, have their forms bought by faceless persons or groups, such that each of the forms cost 45million naira and totalled (45mil. ×13) 585 million naira; will you still say its nothing but choice? Or will you question the integrity in the whole process?

I hate it when people are hypocritical and display double standard.

If you claim their is nothing like right of choice in the Nigeria constitution, definitely you are part of the problems of Nigeria. (2 ) please post a section in the Nigeria constitution that forbid a person or group of people from donating a some of amount to individual or organisation. Note : stop posting long thrash, just post the relevant section only

45million naira is a huge amount to come from faceless people. Supporters or not, aren't we all privy of the way the current administration is probing movement of cash?

I have no sympathy for any politician, whether in PDP or in APC or any other party. But we are known how wrong it is for somebody occupying public office to receive gifts. Its against the law. The Criminal/Penal codes prohibits it. The EFCC Act too.
For those asking why: a case study is the legal battle now facing former Finance commissioner of Akwa Ibom state who is now being proved for receiving cars/Jeeps. Reading the available facts for the man's probe, it stated that he "received cars".
All of us read it and admitted it was wrong for that former finance commissioner to have received the cars.

Isn't it worse to have our C in C, who also is our chief corruption fighter to receive free 45million naira in one swoop?
Next is to have his campaign sponsored with billions of naira. Then the corruption fight will be directed to only the opposition and those who made no donations to his second term quest.

All these are wrong because of the integrity we claim, otherwise, there would have been no need to complain.
But, why was PDP criticized before?

Who knows if they are people trying to get undeserved favour from the corridors of power such that certain corruption cases against them will be slowed down or tactically frustrated deliberately or any other illegal favours that may accrue to the donors in return for their 45million naira and the campaign donations on the way too.

No Dear.
Integrity is like a mirror. You watch yourself through it and see the goodness or badness of your acts. If you don't, others will use it to screen you and pass the judgment.

David and his girlfriend aren't people in public office. There is no codified rule guiding friendship. But there is a code, an Act of Parliament that stipulate how occupiers of public office should behave especially when it comes to pecuniary issues.
