Liverpool's re-emergence as a European force is growing at a considerable pace under Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds re-established themselves as a big name on the continent last season as they charged all the way to the Champions League final before falling 3-1 to Real Madrid, who made triumphed for the third successive time in Europe's premier competition in the process.
Klopp's side will be afforded another crack at their attempts to win a sixth European Cup for Liverpool later this month when their Champions League campaign gets underway, and the Reds will be one to avoid for most teams in the competition.
Take for instance, Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, who was outraged by UEFA's decision to place Liverpool in Pot 3 for last week's draw in Monaco.
Liverpool were eventually drawn with the Italian side, alongside Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain and Red Star Belgrade, and De Laurentiis was infuriated at the pairing with last season's finalists - a team he clearly would have preferred to sidestep.

"We are bitter, I will ask for an explanation from UEFA," said De Laurentiis, speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
"Liverpool, Champions League finalists, are put in pot 3? It is a disastrous anomaly."
It appears that not everyone has been paying attention to Liverpool's rapid rise towards the upper echelon of European football however.
PSG and Brazil superstar Neymar could be one,
given his surprise prediction ahead of the French club's meeting with the Reds at Anfield on September 18.
Asked for his Premier League predictions for the season, Neymar overlooked a Liverpool team who have finished inside the top four for the past two seasons and currently sit top with maximum points from four games.
"Who will win it? Woah that's difficult," said Neymar. "It's very hard, very difficult, but Manchester City will win it.
"Second will be United, third is Chelsea. Fourth is Tottenham."
When pressed further on the top-four matter, Neymar confirmed “no Liverpool” ahead of PSG's trip to Anfield.
He isn't the first person to dismiss Liverpool's chances, but has the world's most expensive footballer fallen into the trap that a number of others have done previously over the past year?
Last season, Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmann confidently declared that he was not "in awe" of Anfield or Liverpool ahead of his side's Champions League qualifier with Klopp's men.
Nagelsmann said: "I don't think if we win it will be a shock. There will be a surprise because I don't think everyone is betting on us, but we have belief that we can do it.
"I don't really make a difference between home or away matches, so I don't really care [where the game is played]. I am not overly in awe of this club. We are good enough not to have to hide here."
Twenty-four hours later, his Hoffenheim team were 3-0 down inside half an hour and well and truly blown away by a blistering Liverpool attack, inspired by a vociferous Anfield crowd.
Liverpool would eventually run out 4-2 winners on the night to book their place in the group stages with a 6-3 aggregate scoreline.
Spartak Moscow coach Massimo Carrera made similar assertions when they pitched up in L4 in December last year.
"We're going to face great players with a great atmosphere inside the squad," said Carrera. "We will face a very strong team, but we respect the opponent and the fans of Liverpool. We respect them, but we don't fear them. We have good players of our own."
Liverpool would run out 7-0 winners on the night to comfortably secure their progress into the knockout stages.
Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne was another who attempted to dismiss Anfield's enduring power ahead of another Champions League meeting in April this year.
De Bruyne said: "Does the Anfield atmosphere matter? I don’t think so.
"Obviously they have their style of play and to play there is tough. But apart from those 10 minutes when we conceded goals last time [in January], we really did okay."
Again, the claims were proven wide of the mark as Liverpool ran out 3-0 victors to give themselves a healthy lead ahead of a quarter-final second leg they would eventually negotiate with 2-1 win.
Another white-hot Anfield atmosphere can be expected when PSG visit later this month, and a special welcome might just be in store for Neymar, too. Why Neymar may regret making his shock Liverpool prediction when Paris Saint-Germain visit Anfield
