If the pure heart you have received from the lord is, maintained, your motives will be pure and the self- life will immediately end. However, the enemy may attack and want to take you to life governed by self. The question is, ‘’how do you maintain the pure heart?’’ here are some suggestions:
1. Humble yourself. You must do it. You can do it. If you do not take the initiative to humble yourself, God will humble you, and it is horrible. Do not ask God to do it. He wants you to do it. He comes in as a last resort and it is always in the form of judgement.

2. Confess all that comes through out of the self life, confess and repent. Confess to God and man. Change your ways. Start telling all the truth about yourself. Start exposing those parts of your life which you have been hiding in order to build a great but false image of yourself. Let your friend know all about you including your deepest failure. Hide nothing. Take a move towards reconciliation. Take the first move. Do not wait for the other party to move

3. Stop justifying yourself. Deliberately refuse to justify anything you have done. If you have done wrong, repent at once. If you have done no wrong, do not try to show that you are right. God knows that you are right and that is all matters.

Accept blame.
Accept criticisms,
Ask for criticisms.
