Why is President Putin not married? Rumors have it, he is, to an Olympic champion in gymnastics. Married, with two children. Why is it not official? I suppose on some level it’s still considered a bad tone in Russia to marry a woman younger than one’s daughters. Though it’s increasingly widespread on all levels of the Russian society (in Moscow at least), and no longer frowned upon as much as it used to be. Most Putin’s voters are women, and not all women approve. Even if they did, it’s PR 101: female voters need to see him as available, subconsciously. Plus, she won’t make a good first lady at official receptions. In short, Putin isn’t Trump.
