*says cooks, cleaners, drivers of el-Rufai and cronies losing as party leaders

A group, who identified themselves as APC Stakeholders Aspirants Forum have lashed out at Governor Nasir el-Rufai over the adoption of the indirect mode of primaries ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The group led by a gubernatorial aspirant, Sir Jalal Falal, said that he should emulate President Muhammad Buhari and conduct the Back Direct Primaries at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna Co.

“We urge our governor to be on same page like incorruptible Buhari.
“We object the indirect primaries because it is prone to manipulative interest of few and corruptive practice of vote buying,” they said.
Speaking further, they alleged that APC in Kaduna State is under control of Governor el-Rufai and his ‘godsons’.
” At the ward and LGA congresses, officials were picked by the governor and his aides, leading to mass exodus in Kaduna State APC.
“The outcome is that for the of the APC to retain Kaduna State, it must field candidates that would beat those of other parties.
“But with the indirect mode, delegates would be hell bent on electing only money bags and candidates of el-Rufai,” Falal, speaking on behalf of the group added.
The group wondered that, “Popular candidates need not fear direct contact with party members.”
He explained that already they have communicated same grievances to national leadership of the party.
The gubernatorial aspirant who said he has been in APC right from inception, joining through one of the legacy parties, CPC, said that they are not leaving APC.
“We would stay to ensure the right thing is done in the party, because we are part of the founders.
“Members of APC denied the right to vote for leaders of the party. We won’t agree with a single person and his cronies going into a room and choose leaders, we can’t subject ourselves under this arrangement.
“Some of those selected are their cooks, some are their gardeners, some are their drivers, added to the court case pending, we will not agree to subjecting ourselves to this illegality,” he added.
He boasted that since all the ‘big’ politicians shied away from contesting against el-Rufai, he decided to throw his hat in the ring and is confident that he would beat el-Rufai if the direct mode of primaries is adopted.
Also present at the briefing were Architect Shamsudeen Shehu Giwa, an Kaduna Central Senatorial aspirant and Hassan Samdi, vying for Kaduna North representative in the House of Representatives.
