The latest action is now starting and puts the world’s largest social network, Facebook and the well-known Canadian smartphone manufacturer, BlackBerry head to head. Facebook is complaining that BlackBerry has used their ideas in their products.

The lawsuit bringing these two companies to court began a few days ago and was initiated by Facebook. Facebook complains that BlackBerry has inadvertently used some of its patents.

In all, there are 6 patents that Facebook claims BlackBerry used without authorization, including one associated with the voice messages that BlackBerry uses in BBM Enterprise.

Facebook has asked a federal court in San Francisco to resolve this issue between the companies and is demanding a monetary amount to offset its losses. However, this value has not yet been revealed.

Moreover, Facebook also claims that BlackBerry has also violated a patent regarding how mobile devices deliver images and audio. There are also references to patents related to GPS and security data management.

This case follows another, which began earlier this year with the same companies, and in which BlackBerry accused the social network giant Facebook of violating patents associated with messages on mobile operating systems, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram.

This seems to be another case where the charges will be constant and it will take several years to be resolved, as it has been normal in these situations. Probably, as it has also been normal, it will end with an agreement between the companies and the sharing of the patents in exchange for a symbolic value.
