GOOD INTENTIONS We had good intentions but bad motivations So instead they pointed the semiauto to my Nation. One of the finest lady but no strong foundation So we try to cover the flaws with a little foundation. Government by the people for the people, what people? But how did we get here? I self reflect.... I'll start with Abacha cause that's where my memory takes root Rayban Abacha, If you mess with our military you wouldn't like the gas. Cause in terms of strength we were strong no doubt But in human living was there any doubt, The people were afraid cause the men were known to load guns Whispers between us as to what goes on behind closed doors. Still I'd say it was a relief to tell the truth When he pulled an Adam and bit the forbidden fruit. In came Obasonjo the baba himself We said to ourselves 'let's test this democracy sef' Out went the uniform In came the agbada. 'Baba Ibeji' would go on to erect infrastructures But below the surface we were lacking the structure Τhe leaders that govern us our reps and senators; Greedily scheming, and piling cash While our problems be brewing and piling fast. 8 years gone in a painful slow flash, In came Yar'adua Yar'dua, my mind is always full of what ifs.. What if he never fell sick and had more time? But a year was all he would get, quite a short time In office.. Τhe 'vice' Goodluck stepped into the office And we all thought; Goodluck might bring us luck But he had too much 'patience' when he came to work He had good intentions but lacked the steely resolve to refuse to bend to the powers that be. So subsidy opened the flood gates and it never stopped pouring. Terrorism intensified and caused more weeping, Gulliver of Africa but the giant is sleeping During those six years we drew closer to red lines With newspapers always having strange headlines The people rallied up, said its time for change Three years later and all the money is change. Mr president, you got good intentions But the fight with corruption is an unending battle Three years gone and now every one is fighting. The youths are getting desperate, morals are reducing Its a jungle out here and we steadily bruising.. All my life I been hearing vision 20/20 But can't see no optician This cornea is plenty deadly but its time to rectify Cause except it rains holy water we can't be sanctified? But why is it that when the North is pacified, the South is dissatisfied Like there is no middle ground Even our middle belt is unbuckled Who's ready to fight to the end? Raise a fist with bleeding knuckles.. Corruption motivates us so all I see is good intentions and bad motivations. But dedicate yourself to selfless deeds All it takes is a small spark to spread the wild fire We've been pierced by thorns, a late bloomer a wild flower When they try to bury our voice we germinate like a seed Cause its time we use good motivations to fulfill the good intentions.. ~soul~ 12 Likes 3 Shares

Bridges Of Lagos The view is the same under the bridges of Lagos Be it Oshodi, Obalende, Alakija or CMS The jostle of bodies, everyone in a hurry Yellow fevered traffic wardens, more interested in money Recharge card umbrellas, all littered about At night the bulbs come alive to illuminate their wares The bus park in the corner, not far from the Tout The speaker on the pole, announcing transport fares During the day, voices ring at the newspaper stand And at night the smoke rises from the suya spot Eagle eyed hustlers looking to take command Of a JJC, the perfect prey, another creature caught The view is the same under the bridges of Lagos So keep a sharp eye, because this is Lagos.
