Kano, regarded as the commercial hub of Northern Nigeria due to its strategic location, is also the home that houses ancient relic and culture which dates back to the 7th century. Take time out and appreciate this beautiful location.

Dubar Festival
Also called Kano Durbar by some, this is the most popular festival amongst the various festival celebrated in Kano, hosted by the Emir of Kano. A thrilling display of culture, tradition and religion, it is celebrated to mark the two annual Muslim festivals, Eid-al-Fitr and Eid-al-Adha.

The Dubar basically is a procession of very sophisticated dressed horsemen, passing through the city to the Emir’s palace to offer respect and allegiance.

Dawakin tofa pottery
Situated in the local government area of Dawakin Tofa, artistic vessels of various forms are created. Do you want to see clay pottery transform from its raw state, this is where to go.

Kurmi market
Once known for its large involvement in the transatlantic slave trade, the kurmi market is an age long traditional market popular for the sale of very attractive cultural items like handcrafted beads and jewellery, sculptures and other woven materials.

Kofar Matar dyeing pit
Famous all over the world and a major reference point in international museums, the 500-year-old pits have never ceased operation since its creation. In ancient time, it was one of the most lucrative occupations that brought people from far and wide to purchase. It is the best place to learn about cloth-dyeing.

Minjibir weaving place
Minjibir is a whole village which is entirely dedicated to textile weaving. Here, you can feel the passion of the locals in their creation of beautiful African materials.

Kano City Wall
Of course, the city wall is an antique that must be mentioned for the piece to be. Built in the 14th century to secure the city, this architectural beauty offers archaeological significance and an impressive tourist attraction. Though not as grandiose as the Great Wall of China.
