We should have *WORLD NATURAL HAIR DAY* a.k.a International Day for Simbi & Other Natural Hairstyles.



I'm tired of wearing white people's hair o. Have you noticed how everyone that puts on extension and weaves has same physiognomy; slanty oblong face shapes that makes me think of a certain group of organisms in kingdom animalia.

Hollup sis, Don't breath glue on my nape yet and say, 'oh poor thing don't got money for Brazilian, she be talking Simbi'. Last month, I condemned two weaves on just one wear because they made me feel ashamed of myself. About 5k was lost which is something. Money loss is money loss 5, 30, 1000, 6000000 N/$.

A greater loss is that of parting with self pride and natural gifts.

Look, I must be honest with you, sometimes when I handle those kinks on my round-headed skull I take out my maker on a few words. Like, 'why the haaale did you start this Adam's curse on my scalp? See how hard I have to till before I can harvest a good style'. But then I restrain myself.

Hair is hair, even though I envy my coz who goes weeks without combing anything yet his curls remain bouncy and shimmer like liquid gold. Well, mine, you know the rest. Same texture is seating atop your scrutinizing face therefore you can tell better.


So why this long epistle? What I'm opining is that we should come out of this hair slavery small small. I want whenever I walk into Wuse market with my bun/shuku/doughnut/whateveryoucanworkkinksinto, those ladies dangling their braided weaves in the manner of catfish in water won't welcome me with shouts of, 'Your hair your hair, braiding or fixing', but when I'm obviously FIXED they shout, ' your nails, your eyelashes,' instead. I want when I walk pass them they will beam and say, 'kudos sis, natural hair feels good on World Natural Hair Day'.

My hair goal supports SDGs 1, 10 & 15 even gender equality (for the male folks' sake)

*By natural hair I don't mean only afros.
