A source within the government enforcement team said the affected banks defaulted in the payment of the annual environmental development levy.


but the banks will still be the one to take care of their environment e.g. drainage repairs, street clean up, even beautification of their surrounding premises.
So what's the tax used for...

Just like Lagos landlords / landladies contribute to sandfill, put drainage, buy poles, Wire extension, buy / repair transformer, carry out environmental even interlock the streets and security.
Monthly / yearly you will see FG and LG coming to collect all sort of tax/levies
