The National Agency for Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and Other Related Matters on Monday said it lacked enough evidence to criminally charge a former governor of Zamfara State, Senator Ahmed Sani, with allegedly marrying an Egyptian minor. In a statement on Monday, NAPTIP said it had concluded its investigation against Sani, saying that though he may have violated the nation’s child rights laws, it was up to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Adoke (SAN), to file charges against him, the Associated Press reports.
