BREAKING: AMAJU PINNICK RE-ELECTED AS NFF PRESIDENT
Amaju Pinnick has been re-elected as the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

At the election just concluded this afternoon, Pinnick polled 34 votes, beating three other contestants to emerge winner and thus, retain his seat for the next four years.

For the other contestants, Alhaji Aminu Magari got eight votes; Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi got two votes while Chinedu Okoye got none.

BELGIUM JOINS FRANCE AS JOINT-TOP AS NIGERIA MOVES UP IN NEW FIFA RANKINGS

Belgium have joined world champions France as joint leaders of the FIFA world rankings released Thursday, the first time in the table’s 25-year history that top spot has been shared.

Belgium have notched up a pair of wins, including a victory over Iceland in the inaugural Nations League competition to bring them level with France who beat them in the World Cup semi-finals.

The only other change in the top 10 sees Denmark (10th, down one place) slip below Spain (9th, unchanged).

IVAN GAZIDIS RESIGNS AS ARSENAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE TO JOIN AC MILAN
Ivan Gazidis, the Chief Executive Officer of Arsenal Holdings PLC – parent company of Arsenal Football Club of London – has after nine years at the helm to join Italian club AC Milan.

His resignation which takes takes effect on October 31 was made known in a statement released by the club’s official website.

Raul Sanlleihi, current Head of Football Relations, has been appointed as Head of Football and Vinai Venkatesham, currently Chief Commercial Officer, becomes Managing Director after Gazidis’ exit.

ETHAN AMPADU SIGNS LONG-TERM CHELSEA DEAL
Wales international Ethan Ampadu has signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea, the Premier League club announced on Wednesday.

Ampadu, who signed from Exeter in 2017 with the fee agreed by tribunal, has impressed since moving to Stamford Bridge.

“I’m really proud and happy, I’m looking forward to the next five years,” said the 18-year-old, who can play in defence or midfield.

CHELSEA COACH SARRI BACKS HAZARD TO EMERGE AS PREMIER LEAGUE TOP-SCORER
Eden Hazard can score 40 goals this season and win the Premier League Golden Boot, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has asserted after the Belgium forward scored a hat-trick to maintain the club’s perfect start to the season.

Sarri believes Hazard can become the best player in Europe and outstrip even arch poachers Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah following his three goals in a 4-1 victory against Cardiff on Saturday.

“We have spoken and I told him he can score 40 goals,” said the former Napoli manager. “He has to improve some things, but he can do it.”
