Nigerian comedian Okey Bakassi, has reacted to claims of comedians making light the message of God by some Pastors. 

In a chat with Saturday Beats, Okey Bakassi stated that Pastors who question why comedians are quick to crack jokes about Christianity and say little or nothing about other religions, are speaking out of ignorance. 

The comedian said; 

“I think sometimes people talk out of ignorance. With due respect to what people believe in; when some of these pastors talk, you see a lot of ignorance. If you do not understand some aspects of a business, you either keep quiet or ask questions.

“You can also do your research. We do not talk so much about Islam simply because most comedians are Christians and we understand our own religion more than other religions, so we try to stay away from subjects we know nothing about.

“Do you want us to talk about a religion we know nothing about and stand the risk of misinforming the public as opposed to talking about what we know and understand? Even the pastors, do they talk about Islam on the pulpits? Is it not Christianity they talk about and don’t they make light of some things in the Bible just to get their message across?

“So why is it that some people just like to pick on comedians as if we are the only problem they have? I think it is ignorance.”

BASKETMOUTHING the things of God, the word of God and the men of God has now become the means to an end by Nigerian comedian.

All in the name of becoming a celebrities and making billions, some comedian do not fear God.

These comedian crack useless jokes about the things of God just to fulfil a few minutes of laughter.

There are some comedian who even MIMIC SPEAKING IN TONGUES just to gain the attention of their audience and then play to the gallery.

Speaking in tongues is a gift of the holy spirit given to the early Christians in the bible on the day of Pentecost of which it is an attributes of the penticostal faith to connect with God Almighty.

But some ignorant comedian now crack useless jokes about this spiritual aspect of the christian faith all in the name of making their audience laugh.

Men of God, some pastors in particular have even entered into covenant with some so called worldly artist, secular artist, Nollywood artist and actress, worldly gospel artist and actress where they are contracted to come and perform in their Churches.

These men of God invites these men of God to come and perform in church program called "LAUGHTER FOR JESUS" and "1000 JOKES FOR THE LORD"

It seems to be just a joke but it never end there as the comedian go out of his or way from church to church to be cracking jokes, adulterate the jokes to destroy the sacred things of God

Who do men of God blame when they are the first person to enter covenant with the devil or satan of which unbeliever are invited to the pulpit of God to perform.

I think the blame goes to both the comedian and men of God on this disregard and disrespect for the things of the Kingdom of God.

To me Okey is the one truly ignorant here. Because he is fighting the pastor back. Not concerntrating on what they are saying. Their are things that are sacred and should not be made into laughing stock.the Muslims understand this more than us. Is what they are saying.

Many Christians indeed are foolish. Imagine making a joke out of your saviour. One you believe died to save you. If your father took a bullet for you, will you make a,joke of his memory?

it depends weather they are true believers or they are out to make money. Because a business man will monitise anything. The people who brought this gospel to you were brutalized and killed and to me that is not a joking matter.

With due respect Mr. Okey you do not seem to know that jokes must have limitations. When comedians begin to mention Jesus in jokes what do you call that? There must be limits. In the name of comedy a lot of the so called comedians have been very insultive. Surely you cannot claim ignorance of this. The fact that some of the comedians are christians and proceed to make fun of their pastors and christianity shows clearly their foolishness and lack of belief. Are there no Islamic comedians out there? They never make jokes with their faith. On the part of the pastors it is very unwise and disrespectful to engage comedians who come to their churches to crack jokes. Christians have the right to defend their faith.
