KOWA Party has announced Adesina Fagbenro-Byron as its flag bearer in the 2019 presidential election. According to a statement on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Habiba Balogun, Mr Fagbenro-Byron won the party ‘s presidential primary elections on Saturday at The Alexis Hotel, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Jabi Upstairs, Abuja. ”KOWA Party takes great pleasure in announcing that Adesina Fagbenro-Byron emerged victorious as Kowa Party’s Presidential Candidate from the party’s National Convention and Presidential Primary that took place on Saturday 29th September, 2018 from 11am to 5pm at The Alexis Hotel, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Jabi Upstairs, Abuja.” ”He surmounted vigorous competition from his fellow presidential aspirants, Professor (Mrs) Remi Sonaiya, who was the party’s presidential flag bearer at the 2015 elections, and veteran actor, Mr Ayo Lijadu, who ran a very strategic national grassroots recruitment campaign.” According to the spokesperson, the aspirants were properly screened by answering multiple choice questions posed by experts from diverse fields, and writing an essay on a topic of national interest. ”KOWA Party subjected its aspirants to a rigorous process. They were formally screened including security clearance,” Mrs Balogun said. ”Then they submitted to a written examination on Friday 28th September answering multiple choice questions posed by experts from diverse fields, and writing an essay on a topic of national interest. ” “At the convention, the debate was moderated by the founder of Integrity Group, Soji Apampa, as the candidates were all given equal opportunities to appeal for votes as the profile of all candidates were distributed to all party members by SMS ”Finally, they participated in a Presidential Debate at noon during the convention on Saturday 29th September moderated by Soji Apampa, the founder of Integrity Group. The aspirants were also given a final opportunity to appeal for votes. ”Their profiles has been circulated to all party members by sms and email prior to the commencement of paper balloting at the National Convention,” she added. She also explained that KOWA adopted a multi-channel voting system for its national primary as the party used a combination of paper, online and sms voting so that all of its members could participate. ”Party adopted a multi-channel voting system for its national primary. In keeping with our spirit of inclusiveness, the party used a combination of paper, online and sms voting so that all of its members, even those in rural areas could participate, including those without smart phones and who could not travel to the state convention centers that the party set up in 28 states. Indeed some members who were unwell were still able to cast their votes from their sick beds. The online voting system was first successfully piloted at our Lagos State Congress in May 2018 and was witnessed by INEC. ”KOWA Party prides itself as being the credible alternative to the traditional political parties. The party’s slogan is “Together, we make a difference” and it aims to avoid the traps that have bedevilled the big parties in Nigeria and cling strongly to its founding principles of transparency, inclusiveness, people-centred development and meritocracy. ”Its aspirants run based on their state of residence, not their state of origin. Women, Youth and People Living with Disabilities are not considered token or minority members, they are welcomed and embraced as full members and officers of the party at National and State levels, and are well represented at decision-making levels.” https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/more-news/287560-2019-kowa-party-announces-presidential-candidate.html 3 Likes

But is "KOWA" a party? Who formed it? When? How? Will the party be able to win in any local government? Instead of combining resources to throw the lifeless one out of Aso villa to Sambisa, you are just trying to waste the vote of your family (because they are the only ones voting for you). We need their votes more than you do. Nna eeh this 2019 erection go hot... He is welcome to contest, at least he's "life-full " not lifeless 1 Like |

ClassicMG: Exactly!! Kowa never knew that people were aware of their presence and expected them to be the opposition to APC and be outspoken about the numerous issues. They just kept quiet all these while only to come with a presidential candidate. I am sure they pay the people that don't win these elections and kowa just wants to get their own share. 1 Like |

Xisnin: Don't think all people who comment know what they are talking about. He could have said main opposition party and we'd understand. One thing I still wonder about in opposition parties. When in Opposition, Nigerian parties do not have different members to comment/specialize in various portfolios/aspects of governance. For example, now that PDP is the biggest opposition party, they could have Peter Odili or Uduaghan or Ahmadu Ali (all doctors) or a previous PDP Health Minister keeping Isaac Adewole on his toes over the woes in our health sector. We could have FKK (former Aviation minister) keeping Aviation Minister watching over his back over performance or lack thereof in Aviation. David Mark (a retired general) might handle issues about defense and national security. And so on. That way when opposition figures criticize specific govt policies, then we know they know what they are talking about. But in 9ja everybody just speaks about everything. Everyone does propaganda. No expertise. It may not be the culture in many presidential systems but it would enable serious opposition parties in Nigeria to have "expertise base" evolved over time and ready to deliver in governance from day one. We saw the lack of preparedness for governance when APC took over. Taking long to pick ministers, trial and error policies and policy somersaults. The most developed part of APC set up in opposition was Lai Mohammed's propaganda machine and helped smooth over Buhari's many gaffes in the media in the early part of this administration. Imagine if they had developed expertise base on health, education, economy, agriculture, infrastructure and others like that. Buhari would have hit the ground running. Governance is more than propaganda, hurriedly putting a manifesto together without the expertise to implement. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

sexybaby22: They sincerely are but they are not just front liners in mainstream reportage that's why you barely see them comment. Check them on Twitter or Facebook you'd know that they to a large extent even more than PDP are the only opposition with common sense. |
