In a statement issued by the Secretary of State, Michael Pompeo, on the occasion of Nigeria’s National Day on Monday, the government congratulated Nigeria and its people on the nation’s independence anniversary.

Pompeo said: “I would like to convey warm wishes to the government and people of Nigeria on the 58th anniversary of your independence. Nigeria remains a key partner and friend of the United States.

“Through its strengthening democracy, its dynamic economy and the great entrepreneurial spirit of its people, Nigeria is a leader in the region and beyond.

“We count on Nigeria to continue its leadership through free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections in 2019.

“The United States offers our continuous support to Nigeria in its efforts to expand trade and investment, counter-terrorism, ensure regional stability and tackle corruption.

“As you celebrate the anniversary of your independence, please know that the people of the United States celebrate with you.”

Nigeria, a former British colony, gained Independence on Oct. 1, 1960.

Small time you will say all Nigerians are lifeless like their president. Don't tease us, there is nothing to celebrate other than hoping things will turn around some day.

cheesy
This is foolery at its peek.
The best way to know the US is to live with them. They have a similar mentality with the Fulani people. And that's the born to rule mentality. If you want to test the strength of the US against Russia, then take away democracy from them and give them dictatorship. Democracy cub their wickedness. At least, to some extent.
The US are happy with the way Nigeria is. They prefer us being a third-world country. Once we become developed as a nation, we'll become an adversary to them. That's the way they think. They hate multiple rivals and competitions. The US will rather start a third world war than seeing China and Russia overtaking them economically and military wise respectively.
There's no relationship and partnership between Nigeria and the US. It's only a perpetrated lie beautified to milk us dry.
