Dstv To Shut Down Its Mobile TV Service by askifa1: 7:00pm On Oct 02, 2018

Nigeria’s number one cable TV, DStv has announced that it will shut down its mobile TV service after the 31st of October, 2018. The DStv mobile service has been existing since 2010 and it used DVB-H technology – a technology that allows users to access DStv on their mobile devices, laptops or tablets through a drifta mobile decoder.

While making this announcement, the company said;

Over the last few years, technology has evolved as broadband access continues to grow. Therefore, it is not feasible to continue to maintain a separate-land based, dedicated network for this service alone, when an even better service can be offered to our customers on DStv Now app via the internet and wi-fi.

The service was N1,260 per month. DStv Premium customers received one mobile subscription for free, with additional subscriptions charged at N1,260 per month each but as a result of this move, users will not be charged their subscription fee from 1 September 2018. Decoder insurance on mobile devices will also be canceled.
