PDP must take an oracle decision in Primaries.

The People’s Democratic Party of Nigeria have begun their path back to the summit today with what will be a major phase in it’s history. The Party suffered defeat at the last Presidential elections as Incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan was in the contest against the current President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari defeated Jonathan by about two million votes to send PDP parking after 16 consecutive years in Power. The PDP had previously boasted that it will steer the affairs of the nation for 60 years but as the elections drew near the party suffered major setbacks as many big players decamped to the All Progressive Congress. The People’s Democratic party’s decision to field Goodluck Jonathan was the stressor that caused the massive downgrade at the party as the Northern elite were clearly rooting for someone from their tribe to rule irrespective of he not being in PDP.

However after President Muhammadu Buhari took control they were rather disappointed with his misrule and his high incompetence, sensless killings in the country and his undemocratic approach towards sensitive issues like the respect for legislature which caused a straneous relationship with the Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Saraki had stepped up to fight the presidency and after many battles formed the R-APC whose members are now mostly in PDP.
PDP had earlier tried to stage a comeback but were held down by former Party Chairman Ali Sheriff who they claimed was a member of the opposition sent to destroy the party. After a long battle in court, Sheriff was sacked and Ahmed Markafi was made the new Party Chairman on temporary basis before the installation of Prince Uche Secondus who hails from Rivers State after their last convention.

Prince Secondus had a task to unite the party and lure back it’s former members which he has done successfully to an extent.
Today the decision on who the Party’s Presidential Flag bearer will be is going to be made with 12 Aspirants from which the party will choose.

The Most notable names in the run are Senate
President Bukola Saraki, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Ibrahim Damkwabo, Atiku Abubakar, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso. The other contenders have a less than 25% possibility of emerging as compared to these who possess popularity and geographical advantage.



Why PDP Must choose Carefully

President Muhammadu Buhari has shown over his three and half years in office that he is undemocratic. He has also shown an attitude which is unsportsmanlike in the past when he lost Presidential pools by threatening fire and brimstone. His tenure as President has seen the most disgraceful and disgusting type or rigging as vote buying and manipulation of INEC has become a casual thing. The All Progressive Congress have also used the media to peddle false praise for itself and has shut out anyone with a dissenting voice to their performances in government.

The Law enforcement agencies have become tools of the All Progressive Congress and the invasion of the National Assembly in early August was another hint as to how far they are willing to go. While
