You are a learner. Every CP is answerable to the state governor they commission. I am from a police family and know too well. Just as the IG is answerable to the president, the commissioners are answerable to the governors. That doesn't mean they are not answerable to the IG. If the governor tells them to do something it has to be done except its not appropriate and the IG orders them not to do it, then they have to answer the IG because the IG is higher.

They might do it. However, that is not the legal chain of command. The CP is appointed by the federal, states don’t have control of the police. Of course it is in the best interest for the CP to corporate with the governor of the state, however if a CP does not want to corporate by law he is right. The state does not pay his salary.

He is correct, a governor who is just an executive in his state cannot order a policeman that is controlled by the federal government. States don’t have control over the policemen. Unlike in the US where there is state police, local police etc. so the policeman only answers to the CP whose Oga is IG who answers to his own oga at the top in Abuja.

Bro he is not correct in anyway. The governor ordered the police in his state, not the entire police of Nigeria and he has the right to do that. Are you telling me you know better than the governor? If it wasn't in his capacity to do that, why would he even do that in the first place. Except you are also trying to say the governor does not know his job as well.

He CANNOT order any police from the state. He has no jurisdiction over them LEGALLY. They only take orders from their CP who does not have to take order from the governor.

All police whether in the state are ALL controlled by the federal. They take orders from their OWN chain of command before they listen to any governor. However, most police command have a system where they can be courteous to their state governor but it is not a right. Also most governors take care of their police commissioners well so that they can do their bid but in the real chain of command a governor has NO power over a CP. it is the law.

This is a very cankerous quagmire, it is inextricably pungential and apocryphally apocalyptic that some devilish machineries are having a field day and freely roaming our terrestrial spaces without being accosted by our law enforcement entities. What a zoological phenomenon!!!

You still don't get it you this ignorant human.

You are obviously pulling your opinion from the pot of corruption and other nonsense that are sometimes practiced in the jungle called Nigeria.

According to the law, they dont.

Governors can't order the police in their state. That's why Benue and Yobe governors have been complaining about this. We need State policing.

The governor of Ondo State Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has given an order to the Police in the State to fish out the killers of Ajila Seun, a model and graduate of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo.

She was allegedly raped and stabbed to death around Sunday Bus Stop, Akure.

Akeredolu gave the directive in Akure on Saturday through a press statement signed by Mr Segun Ajiboye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.

The governor asked the police to ensure that Seun’s killers were arrested and prosecuted.

He commiserated with the family of the deceased and assured them that his administration would support the police to fish out the perpetrators of the act.

Akeredolu promised that every part of the state would be adequately protected.

“Akeredolu is committed to his administration’s mandate of protecting lives and properties of every resident in the state.

“Ondo State is not a haven or safe place for criminals and their backers to carry out their heinous crimes.

“It is either they change from their evil ways or the long arm of the law catches up with them.

“Let Seun’s killers be aware that they will be fished out wherever they are hiding.

“The governor asks the state police command to go after the killers for the prosecution to ensure that the deceased and her family get justice,” the chief press secretary said.
