2019: NANS urges parties to consider youths for political offices
…Endorses Afeez Balogun for House of Reps

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has appealed to parties in the country to consider youths vying for political offices.

The students specially appeal for special consideration for a former student leader, vying for the Abeokuta South Federal constituency seat in the National Assembly, Comrade Afeez Olaniyi Balogun, whom thy described as a renowned active student leader, a young and vibrant comrade, with worthy and enviable character.

NANS National Public Relations Officer (PRO), Comrade Adeyemi Azeez Amoo, made the appeal during a press conference in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital on Thursday.
The students body urged political parties to reflect the not-too-young-to-run Act recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari and allocate more slots for youths.

“We want to appeal to all parties across to consider the hard earned NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN, by considering intending youths that have shown interest in contesting for offices”.

“We believe his consideration will as well attract the support of students across board.

NANS also has said that it would scrutinize the manifesto of all presidential candidates.

The Students body disclosed that it would organize a forum where those President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and president candidates of all other political parties would present their manifesto to Nigerian students.

NANS equally rejected and condemned in totality the statement issued by the APC leadership, informing Nigerians that the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, will be representing President Muhammad Buhari in all debates ahead of the 2019, general elections.

The students insisted that all presidential aspirants must speak to Nigerians themselves and not represented by their running mates.

According to the PRO, We call on all presidential candidates to, as a matter of necessity, equip themselves ideologically, as the national leadership of NANS will be organising a day manifesto programme for them all”.

“Recall, that in 2015, Nigerians clamoured for an improved welfare and standard of leaving, thus, voted against the then ruling party presidential interest.
“It will interest you all to know, that Nigerians became determined then, to cast their majority votes against the then ruling party, based on the well-structured manifesto of the APC, assumed to have been adopted by the party and as well read and digested by the Presidential flag bearer(President Muhammad Buhari) and his running mate, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Some months after the May 29, 2015, handover of government, President Muhammad buhari, came out openly to give first words of discouragement to Nigerians,by telling us that Old age will limit his performances in office as president.

“This really speaks negative volume towards the expectations of Nigerians from him as the president of Nigeria, whom had already promised Nigerians alot via his manifesto and campaign rallies.

“As if that wasn't enough, last year, Nigerians weren't comfortable to continue under the disguise all things are going smoothly, many pressure groups and civil societies challenged the president on his electoral promises and manifesto as promised during his campaign.

“Surprisingly, the president came out with another joker, that he has no knowledge of what he promised Nigerians, that all were written by the leadership of his party, the APC.
