The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is currently holding talks with Peter Obi in Abuja, PREMIUM TIMES has learnt.
Mr Obi arrived at Mr Abubakar’s residence in Asokoro neighborhood around 3:00 p.m., and both have been holding undisclosed talks.

The former Anambra governor is widely speculated as a top candidate for Mr Abubakar to pick as running mate.

The former vice president on Sunday became the presidential candidate of PDP, Nigeria’s main opposition.

Several options have been suggested in the public domain, with the candidate being widely expected to choose from either the Igbo-dominated Southeast or a Yoruba choice in the Southwest part of the country.
It was not immediately clear whether Mr Obi’s visit was in connection to the intensified efforts for a running mate.

If chosen, Obi is a solid example of entrepreneurial leader. He is frugal with finances, and with an impressive CV. He will be a fiercely loyal deputy.

And most importantly the apathy and secessionist atmosphere in the east would be dampened if he's chosen and the team wins.

Again, any Igbo number 2 citizen in Nigeria today would rekindle the Nigerian spirit amongst the Igbo. Millions more in the East would go register and collect pvcs for subsequent elections.

Peter Obi for VP?
Peter Obi though, he is thrift and smacks of a corrupt free politician (as far as I know),
lacks the political sagacity to galvanize the votes of the southerners in a national election.
He is better with a given parastatal appointment than a national elective position.
I'll prefer prof Soludo (for his economic insights) or go to the south west.

Hian ...If Atiku bungles this opportunity I will never forgive him , we Igbos don't have a choice than to vote against Buhari , the candidature of Buhari alone is a threat to Igbo existence and progress anywhere ... whether we like it or not we need the South West vote to finish of Buhari properly and with an Igbos VP don't expect the SW to relinquish its VP in APC and don't expect Yoruba Redeemers to forfeit their pastor....Buhari is no ordinary candidate he is infact A satanic candidate and so this is no time for Igbos to refuse to sacrifice so we the man out of the way ... well Like I said am just an unrepentant realist

SW must produce d VP o cos we have d population. Oyo n Osun states alone can clear d whole of those five small small local govs , which ipob ppl call states in d east.
Atiku will need to speak to all northern minorities like d Shiites, animist, EcWa ppl, pegans and Hausa/Fulani xtians so he can add their votes to whatever he gets from d south, cos real northerners are not yet convinced about him

The only wrong thing about Obi's emergence as VP is his voice; Cant' they flash that his voice and install a new one?

smiley battle of the VPs. Osibanjo vs Obi, let's see if any arewa man or woman would rise up against hate speeches against them and their religion and vote in ipob sympathizers, and let's see if Yoruba would trade fashola's 3 in 1 ministry and osinbajo's VP slot for Atiku/Obi. Things just got real.... 2019 is gon be fire. Not only does APC have NorthWest/SouthWest locked down (18m+14m=32m PVC), they have INEC budget, and other money to buy votes, they have almost all southern media houses; Punch, Tribune, Sun, NTA, TVC and all security apparatus

PS; from 2015 election, kano, katsina and kaduna's vote holds more value than the entire southeastern vote.
I just hope an imaginary "afonja's" betrayer won't be blamed when this fails like the ill thought biafran civil war, Nnamdi kanu's disappearance or jonathan's 2015 loss
