Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has backed calls for restructuring. He spoke at the Annual Law Week of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Owerri Branch, where he presented the keynote on: Restructuring of Nigeria, a Critical Analysis.

Obi said since the present structure was not working, the need for restructuring was not only desirable, but imperative. Debunking the errorneus belief that restructuring amounts to dismemberment, Obi said restructuring was an acknowledgement that what Nigeria runs had been a failure. Accroding to him, when something fails, an alternative should be sought.

NOTE: Peter Obi made that statement exactly 42 days before Atiku declared his intention to run for Presidency under PDP. So he didn't make that statement because he is Atiku's running mate. I believe that statement won him that nomination.

This man played a central role during the 2014 National Conference during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Similarly, the Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators (CNDA) condemned the comments made by the vice president in a statement it issued after it general assembly meeting held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, during the week.

SW AND PACT WITH THE REST OF THE COUNTRY

The South West through Afenifere, Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Pan Niger Delta Elders' Forum and Middle Belt Forum had a restructuring pact to support a candidate that would offer to restructure the country.

It is important they stick to the terms of that agreement, but if they think the agreement doesn't hold again because Atiku chose a pro-restructuring Igbo man, then we wish them good luck.

But if we miss the opportunity to restructure this country in 2019 because of their eyes on 2023 Presidency, their would be consequences. A very dire one.

The South East, South South, Middle Belt and Taraba would NEVER forgive them.
