The Appeal panel set up by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed the election of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu the candidate of the party for the 2019 governorship election in the state. Recall that after the conduct of the governorship primaries, some aspirants to took the case to the NWC to look into the grievances arising from the governorship primary election in the State.

The panel, which was headed by a former governor of Edo State, Prof. Osunbor Oserheimen, also dismissed the petitions filed by other governorship aspirants challenging the results of the election and also which seeking a total cancellation of the primaries.

The petitioners, Chucks Ololo, Chris Nlemoha and Chima Anozie, had in their separate petitions, siting their claims on irregularities, which made it impossible for them and their supporters to participate in the primary.
