1. The President’s Perceived Nepotistic Tendencies:
Holding a position as high as Nigeria presidency entails striking a balance to ensure greater inclusiveness and social cohesion. This is because Nigeria is a multi-religious and multi-ethnic nation. Since the advent of this democracy, all former Presidents have tried to ensure that all ethnic groups are accommodated with one strategic position or the other. From former President Olusegun Obasanjo to former President Goodluck Jonathan, most of the strategic appointments followed merits and Federal Character principle. But that does not seem the case under President Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari’s critics call him a despotic ruler who do not understand the virtue of tolerance for other ethnic groups or religious beliefs.
