Like legends before him, it is not likely that Da Grin, the lyricist that was already a star before anybody realized that he was rapping in Yoruba, would be forgotten in a long time.

His shocking death on Thursday, April 22 after a fatal car crash notwithstanding, Da Grin‘s brief trajectory in the music industry has assumed a special conception of heroism.

Not that you can put the CEO as he was also known in the class of Fela Anikulapo Kuti or King Sunny Ade, no; rather, Da Grin created his own space where many up and coming singers would give their vocal cords to belong.

Since his untimely death, which further shored up his rating and increased his fandom, the tributes have not stopped pouring forth. Now, it is about to be taken to another level.

From the stable of Stingomania Records, Ghetto Dreams, a biopic on the life, struggles, rise to fame, contributions to the music industry and death of Da Grin, is already in the works.

To be shot by one of Nollywood‘s most tested hands, Lancelot Odua Imasuen, the movie, we gathered, is part of the Da Grin Memorial Project established by the outfit owned by Ope Banwo, lawyer and showbiz financier.

Apart from raising money to cater for the deceased singer‘s family, the memorial project, according to Bigsam Media, publicists for Stingomania Records, “will also provide a lasting structure and means to encourage upcoming, struggling and budding entertainment stars, while helping talented artistes deal with the different challenges and lack of resources limiting them from fulfilling their potentials.”
