DIGITAL BRIDGE INSTITUTE SET TO TRAIN OVER 2000 TEACHERS IN 2018
The Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) has announced plans to train over 2000 primary and secondary school teachers and administrators before the end of the year.
The move follows the success recorded with the Advanced Digital Awareness Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADAPTI).
Speaking in a chat with journalists, the Administrator of the Institute, Dr. Ike Adinde, disclosed that the training programme is being extended to secondary schools under the initiative tagged Digital Awareness Programme (DAP) with funding provided by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

STUDENTS OF OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY CALL FOR IMPROVEMENT IN TRANSPORTATION
Following the recent crisis in transportation at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, students have called on the institution management to resolve the crisis on campus.
The student made this call in separate interviews over lack of buses for transportation within the campus.
Speaking with newsmen, Tolulope, a student of the institution said, “transportation crisis has not yet been resolved despite the promises made by the school management. The management shouldn’t make vain promises when they know they can’t achieve anything as regards the issue.

VARSITY DONS TO CONVERGE ON EKITI TO DELIBERATE COUNTER TERRORISM MEASURES
Scholars from across the world will converge on the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, to share useful information, via their research works, to assist policy formulators on counter-terrorism drive in the global community to wage the war against insurgency more effectively.
Themed, ‘Theatre, Counter-Terrorism, and the Nigerian Space,’ the event is the 31st International Annual Conference of the Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA), and it is scheduled to hold from October 30 to November 3, 2018.

MICHAEL EMMANUEL WINS 2018 QURAMO WRITERS AWARD
Michael Emmanuel has emerged winner of the Quramo Writers Prize 2018 for his manuscript titled ‘Running Waters’.
Michael was announced the winner at the award ceremony which took place at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos on Sunday, October 21, 2018.
With his win, he will receive a N1 million cash prize as well as a publishing contract with Quramo Publishing.

NLC STRIKE: COLLEGE OF EDUCATION LECTURERS YET TO RESUME
Since the suspension of the Nigeria Labour Congress nationwide strike, the College of Education lecturers across the country have refused to resume back to their duties.
This was made known in a statement released by the National President of COEASU, Nuhu Ogirima in Abuja.
According to him, the union is ready for a prolonged battle with the government adding the union would not be intimidated by the no work no pay policy of the Nigerian government.
