Shonekan could not manage General Abacha until the latter got rid of him through a palace coup just within 3 months of the set up of the interim national government. Although it was officially reported that Earnest Shonekan resigned from the Interim National Government.

He was a captain of industries especially UAC.

This is to appreciate the our colleagues who had called to confirm whether or otherwise, the Babasale of Egbaland, Chief Ernest Shogunle Shonekan was alive. from the Alake source.

The Alake is not immediately available.

However, I have just spoken with Chief Ernest Shonekan's Personal Assistant, Mr. Dickson who refuted the story.
Mr. Dickson also disclosed that the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, had phoned him and he (Dickson) confirmed to him that Chief Shonekan was alive.
Also a Media aid to the Babasale of Egbaland, Mr. Gbenga Fasina, said that the Chairman of the erstwhile Interim National Government of Nigeria, was alive.

We shall keep you informed if there's any development.
