The Ekiti State House of Assembly has set up a three-man ad-hoc committee to investigate the N10bn supplementary budget passed by some members of the Assembly in the twilight of the regime of the immediate past Governor, Ayodele Fayose.

The ad-hoc committee has the Deputy Speaker, Olusegun Adewumi, as chairman with Akinniyi Sunday and Fajana Ojo-Ade as members.

The committee was raised at the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Adeniran Alagbada, on Tuesday.

The session applauded the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, for cancelling the education tax imposed on pupils by the Fayose government.

Leading the debate, the Leader of Business, Gboyega Aribisogan, said Ekiti people had earlier rejected the tax. He added that a religious organisation criticised and instituted a legal action against the then government.

Alagbada described the abrogation of the education tax as a burden taken away from the people. He prayed that the Almighty God should continue to guard the governor towards leading Ekiti to the right path.

In his contributions, the Minority Leader, Sunday Akinniyi, said the cancellation was a demonstration of the love the governor had for Ekiti people.

They described the action as a step in the right direction and stressed that it would reduce the burden on parents.

Recall that the Assembly had on September 13 passed the supplementary budget for Fayose’s approval.

Fayose while signing the budget had said, “Fayemi signed his own on September 15, 2014, exactly a month to his leaving office, now I’m signing my own on September 14. They should keep quiet and stop crying wolf, I’m still the governor.

“This revised budget being signed today September 14, 2018, Fayemi did sign the same kind of budget on September 15, 2014, when he had less than a month to leave office. Maybe he has forgotten, but Ekiti people are not suffering from dementia and are students of history.

“The Clerk of the House in 2014 when Fayemi signed his revised budget, Mr. Tola Esan, is still the clerk and he is here today. We are not robots and when there are things to attend to, we will still do that before we leave office.”

Meanwhile, Fayose has reportedly taken his ‘stomach infrastructure’ policy to the Lagos office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

After being taken before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos where he was arraigned on Monday morning for an alleged fraud of N2.2bn, Fayose, it was learnt, returned to his cell at the anti-graft agency’s office to give food to some of his co-detainees and visitors to the cells.

The ex-governor’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, claimed that his principal fed no fewer than 50 detainees and visitors at the EFCC office.

A source at the EFCC, who confirmed the development on condition of anonymity, explained that the ex-governor ordered food for the detainees and visitors from a canteen operating on the premises of the anti-graft agency’s office.

He was also said to have offered to get lawyers for some of the detainees who could not afford legal representation.

Another source at the EFCC, however, said there was nothing special in what Fayose did, as visitors to the anti-graft agency’s detention facilities routinely make monetary donations to detainees, especially those who were being freed.

Now Fayose will know that those hailing and respecting him were doing that because of what they were getting from him... In less than 2 Weeks out of office his party lawmaker are trying to prove him... This is an Eye opener to our Polticians

The Igbos killed Fayose a lesson to all politicians don't play to the gallery to try and impress some section of the country in a bid to rubbish a federal government so that in return you'll be hailed and given all sort of names to swell your head.

The same assembly that was under his control a month ago has turned around to probe him.

The same Igbos are killing Wike too but the irony is that their governors are in good working condition and terms with federal government from Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Ikpeazu of Abia, Umahi of Ebonyi, and to Obiano of Anambra.

While they encourage other governors and people from other region to abuse, insult and disrespect the president and cheer them. E.g Peter Ayo Fayose from Ekiti, Femi Fani-Kayode from Osun and Nyeso Wike from Rivers.

Good Point you raise here.... I keep telling people here in PH that Fayose and FFK are just popular in the Social Media they can’t win election in their LGAs... They will tell me to keep shut that the 2 are the greatest Yorubas.... But after the Ekiti and Osun Election they changed their songs to FFK and Fayose are scammers
