Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has signed an executive order for the immediate cancellation of education levies being paid by all students across the state.

He disclosed this at a forum attended by some stakeholders in the education sector held on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Governor Fayemi also announced that his administration has approved the sum of N200 million as car and housing loans for teachers in government schools across the state.

He decried that the number of school dropouts in the state was worrisome.

The governor pointed out that the government has a responsibility to ensure that education was free for students from primary to senior secondary level.

“Statistics show more students have dropped out of schools in Ekiti in the last four years,” he said.
