Tension in the Nigeria Police Force.

There is palpable tension in the Nigeria Police Force as the Inspector General of Police refuses to send back replaced recruits as directed by the Police Service Commission Chairman.
On the14th of July 2018, over five hundred Police recruits that got recruited into the Nigeria Police Force were removed from Police training schools and colleges nationwide. The removal and replacement of Police recruit constables with the IGP's "special"candidates have left many Nigerian youths who were hitherto undergoing training before their recall from the program dejected and hopeless.
The replacement was carried out when the former chairman of the Police Service Commission (Sir Mike Okiro) left office, and before the current commission led by (IGP Musillinu Smith. rtd), assumed office on the 28th July 2018.
Earlier this year, the Police service commission had conducted the most comprehensive recruitment ever recorded in the history of paramilitary and armed forces in Nigeria. The recruitment exercise led to the adoption of computer based test for exams and screening as organized by (JAMB). Replaced recruit constables, having met with all enlistment requirements and passed screening exercises as conducted in different stages by the PSC, were enlisted in the month of June 2018. The recruits were removed and replaced with the IGP's candidates barely one month they reported to training schools and colleges. It is disheartening to say that, the Inspector General of Police, sent the recruits to various Police training schools and colleges when he knew he was going to remove and replace them. It is also pitiable that, replaced recruits left their homes, families and friends for their passion to serve their nation, but were put in agony, regret and made subject of public ridicule.
It is surprising that a nation bedeviled with incidences of crime and criminalities would treat with kids gloves the potential security threats these decamped recruits could turn out to be if not called back to complete their training. It is also a thing of worry considering the pace at which the 2019 general elections are approaching and also putting into cognizance the menace of thuggery which has been proven time and again to be as a result of unemployment .
Unemployment as one of the primary factors of crime in Nigeria, can not be dealt with properly, when over five hundred Police recruits, having undergone basic Police training, were sent back into the society jobless after they might have learnt how to make use of firearms.
It is high time the Federal Government of Nigeria, intervened in this matter so as to bring a peaceful resolution to this impending time bomb.
This is urging the Chairman Police Service Commission, the Inspector General of Police and other relevant stakeholders involved in this regrettable situation to have a rethink and rescind their earlier decision on this matter and recall these candidates to complete their training with the view of serving their fatherland in the form of men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force. A stitch in time saves nine and prevention they say is always better than cure.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria
God bless the Nigeria Police Force
