HISTORY IS MADE AS ETHIOPIA FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT IS APPOINTED.
The Ethiopian Parliament on Thursday, endorsed Sahle-Work Zewde as the country’s first female president. This is sequence to resignation of President Muatu Teshome on Wednesday.

Teshome who has being the president since 2013 submitted his resignation letter following a cabinet’s reshuffling by the Ethiopian Parliament.

Born on February 21, 1950, Zewde studied natural science at the University of Montpellier, France.

She was Ethiopia’s one time Ambassador to Senegal and is the currently the undersecretary general of the UN as well as special representative of the secretary general to the African Union until this appointment.

An astute diplomat, her appointment is being regards as historic at both continental and international circles.
