Akeredolu Rescues Owo-ikare Dilapidated Federal Road. by Gennygolden(f): 4:04pm On Oct 29, 2018
The federal government Owo-Ikare road had been a terror to motorists and road users plying that route as a result of agony brought by loss of lives and properties on the teaming number of road users on daily basis which was brought about by dilapidated and impassable condition of the road over the years.
The road was also kidnappers and armed robbers den as the deplorable nature of the road aided them in carrying out their escapes.
Unfortunately, the road users became more perturbed as there is no other route to link Ikare-Akoko, Oba-Akoko, Iwaro-Akoko and other roads in the northern senatorial district of Ondo state.
Amidst all the wailing and pleading by the road users to the federal government, fell on deaf ears as they waited endlessly without the federal government intervention.
The Suffering and supplication of those plying the road was perceived by the Ondo state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) who on Monday 22 October, 2018, approved on the state executive meeting that the detoriating road should be reconstructed to end further loss of lives and properties caused on the road.
It was brought to our notice that in less than 24 hours of the governor, work commenced on the sight with immediate effects.
According to Ondo state Commissioner for infrastructure and works, Mr. Taofeek Abdulsalam, Akeredolu's administration would have responded to the rehabilitation of this before now, but had to wait for the federal government approval.
