A nurse rescued a four-year-old boy who was tied to a tree for about 36 months and fed by his grandmother like an animal.

The community nurse, who does not want her name mentioned, discovered the hidden horror in Balansa-Sanwaasa, a community in the Builsa North district of Ghana, last week during a house-to-house measles-rubella vaccination campaign.

According to reports, every morning before the old woman went to the farm or the market, she tied the little boy with a rope to a mango tree surrounded by shrubs and held a plate of food by his side. Naked all the time and always exposed to the weather, the malnourished boy had no one to play with except the leaves and insects that fell from the treetop.

Over the years, he should have spent in a kindergarten, he was in exclusive bondage. There he learned by himself how to scribble with his dehydrated fingers - not on paper or slate, but on the floor in the area where the black string, which was always tied around his leg, limited him.

The facts collected by Starr News are that the boy's mother fell ill and died months after the boy's birth. His father disappeared even before the funeral of his mother was performed. Considering the unfortunate circumstances that accompanied the boy's arrival in the world, the grandmother made a stark conclusion that the boy was a "Chichiruk" - the name for a "ghost child" in the locally spoken Buli dialect.

These circumstances formed the basis for the appalling treatment she gave to the boy. And she resisted any attempt by an outsider to free the boy from her shackles until her sister met the boy and threatened to arrest the police if she did not immediately release the child.

"The grandmother thought it was the boy who killed the mother," said Derrick Abakisi, a nurse and associate of Radio Builsa from Sandemia. She also said that she would not take care of someone's child just so the parents could come later and take him away. She also said that the boy liked to roam around and she always had a lot to do; So, the only way to stop him from walking around was to tie him under a mango tree. "

At the time of the rescue, a prolonged hunger and serious malnutrition had already brought the boy to the edge of a shallow grave.

He looks so emaciated that an X-ray machine is not needed to see some of his bones. He seems more or less like a mobile X-ray or a starved orphan rescued from a war-feared third world country.

The rescue was not just fat. It was also contemporary. And a team led by the nurse who secured his freedom took him to the Sandema hospital, where a number of nurses feverishly brought in money to enroll him in the National Intensive Care Unit (NHIS) as soon as possible allow.

He is still at the nursery and receives care and support from sympathizers who still can not understand why a grandmother should accuse and torture a grandson for losing his mother before he was weaned off her breasts.

Hope mama is already in prison for violation of human rights?

If she couldn't care for him, why not put him in foster care or give him up for adoption or send him to his parternal grandparents/family?
