*Shea Butter for Stretch Marks*

Stretch marks are caused and created by the tearing of the skin dermis. They are most commonly associated with pregnancy when rapid weight gain causes the skin to stretch quickly.

However, stretch marks can also occur in response to a rapid growth, such as during puberty. Although they look like long, thin bruises to start with, over time they do fade and then resemble silvery-lines.

For many women, stretch marks can negatively impact self esteem. Women wear a one-piece bathing suit instead of a bikini which is the preferred option to hide these stripes. There are medical procedures that can remove stretch marks. Some people opt to have laser surgery to remove stretch-marked skin.

Tummy tucks are another option, along with microdermabrasion and endermologie.

All these options are expensive and come with health risks. For this reason, finding a natural alternative is highly desirable.

Although it isn’t possible to completely remove stretch marks naturally, applying raw Shea butter can diminish their appearance and help to prevent their development. Shea butter is rich in vitamin A which helps to increase skin elasticity. If you regularly apply Shea butter across your tummy during pregnancy, it’s possible to reduce the formation of stretch marks.

The vitamin A helps the skin to become more supple and better accommodate the increase in weight and stretching that occurs throughout pregnancy.

If you already have stretch marks, *applying our unrefined shea butter two to three times a day can work to significantly reduce and eliminate the appearance of stretch marks.*

It’s very important that when you’re selecting Shea butter for stretch marks that you use our premium quality raw Grade A Shea butter. When you use unrefined Shea Butter products, your skin will benefit from the richness of vitamin A and E to properly heal your skin.

With anti-inflammatory properties, Shea butter can help to minimize the redness associated with newly formed stretch marks. The moisture rejuvenating properties help to smooth the skin surface and make it look and feel youthful again.

Using Our Raw Organic Shea butter for stretch marks is a great natural option that’s affordable and very effective. Using a combination of other natural healing ingredients, you can effectively enhance your skin and reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

SHEA BUTTER+COCONUT OIL IS AN EFFECTIVE TREATMENT FOR STRETCH MARKS & OTHER SKIN CONDITIONS

Shea body butter is an effective way of treating stretch marks, but successful treatment is largely dependent on a few factors. Also known as striae, stretch marks appear on the body when the middle layer of skin known as the dermis is stressed more than it can tolerate – losing the shape and elasticity it is designed to maintain. As a result, visible marks on areas of skin appear including red stripes (striaerubrae), bands on the belly from pregnancy (striaegravidarum) or distinct lines on the shoulder or lower back (striaedistensae). Very common in male and female bodies, stretch marks are generally caused by rapid weight gains from pregnancy, puberty or physically tasking activities like bodybuilding and obesity. While getting rid of stretch marks can be challenging, treatment is usually done for cosmetic purposes and does not indicate more medical intervention. Yet, llphaving this type of skin damage can be demoralizing and treatment can cost hundreds and even thousands of dollars, depending on the extent of the marks. Aside from laser surgery, topical moisturizers such as shea butter are preferred treatment methods but not all shea body butter is equal in potency for healing stretch marks.

In the case of laser surgery, this procedure is not only expensive but can result in bruises, blisters and skin discoloration that can last several weeks and months post treatment. As noted, moisturizers like shea butter can be a more affordable and less invasive method of helping treat skin blemishes like stretch marks but can only be an effective treatment protocol with consideration of two factors: 1) consistency of use in the affected skin area and, most importantly, 2) the quality of shea butter should be pure, unrefined to ensure that the product has high levels of essential fatty acids and vitamins A, E and F. Authentic shea body butter should have a slightly ivory or beige color to it and variation in color indicates the quality and type of the shea nuts and the processing methods used to produce the butter. A centuries old healing cream used in West and Central sub-Saharan Africa, shea butter is currently an extremely lucrative product in the world market that garners between $90 million and $200 million a year, according to the New York Times. But with such high demands, there are many ethical issues that arise and it can be difficult to ensure consistent quality of shea butter that hits the market.
In terms of the treatment of stretch marks, the market is saturated with many products that while they might have some shea content tend to be careless in preserving the essential healing properties in unrefined shea butter as well as add other problematic ingredients that contain artificial perfumes, sulfate and parabens that have proven damaging to skin and hair. And because there are low industry standards and regulations to ensure the quality of products, there is low incentive for companies to increase the quality of their shea butter products. Alternatively, cocoa butter is also promoted in the treatment of stretch marks, yet contains a far less healing capacity than shea. Shea body butter has a healing fraction 5-17% more than the average seed oils like olive oil and coconut oil. Additionally, shea butter has a high level of antioxidants that repair skin damage and allantoin that protects the skin from drying and aging. Pure unrefined shea butter is the preferred moisturizer for sensitive skin due to natural SPF protection and a lower comedogenic scale than cocoa butter, meaning it doesn’t clog skin pores.

WHY COCONUT OIL IS A MIRACLE INGREDIENT

Everyone loves to feel good about themselves. Sometimes that begins with feeling good on the outside by taking some time to take care of your physical appearance.

Coconut oil is a superfood that is the sworn favorite by countless beauty gurus. It hasn’t gotten this popular for no reason either. Coconut oil has tons of benefits not only for your outward appearance but also for your health. It can have a positive impact on your health because of its bacteria-fighting qualities, and it can even improve digestion to help boost your immune system.

Aside from the amazing ways it can improve your health, you can do so much more with coconut oil. It is commonly used to treat acne because it can kill the bacteria that cause it. Or, if you wear makeup, you can use coconut oil to make a variety of products you skin will love. Mix some with aloe vera and activated charcoal for a DIY eyeliner that actually looks good! Make a tinted lip balm with coconut oil, red palm oil, and just a few other ingredients for super soft lips.

*ONE OF THE WORST FOODS FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE*

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 75 million American adults have high blood pressure — that’s one in every three. Though medications are available to treat high blood pressure, a healthy diet is the most effective defense. A diet high in sodium is thought to increase the risk of high blood pressure, a major cause of heart disease and stroke.

*Heart Healthy Foods to Add to Your Diet*

It’s worth explaining the difference between sodium and salt — salt is mostly sodium, a mineral that occurs naturally in foods. Sodium is the substance that may cause your blood pressure to increase. MSG (monosodium glutamate), found in many popular processed foods, is an example of sodium added to food. According to the American Heart Association, when you eat too much salt, which contains sodium, your body holds extra water to "wash" the salt from your body. In some people, this may cause blood pressure to rise.

One of the biggest culprits of high salt is packaged instant noodles. They typically take no more than two or three minutes to prepare, making them easy for students and working adults alike looking for a quick and easy meal. However, the seasoning packets often contain an excessive amount of salt, which you should be on the lookout for if dealing with high blood pressure. According to a study published in the U.S. National Library of Medicine, increased instant noodle consumption was associated with cardiometabolic risk factors, which include high blood pressure. The research was based off participants in South Korea, which has the highest per capita instant noodle consumption in the world.

If you have high blood pressure, work closely with your doctor to modify your diet to prevent the negative health consequences it can cause. A good place to start is with this list of more foods you should be avoiding that are sending your blood pressure through the roof.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF COCONUT OIL FOR SEX

According to a 2014 study, coconut oil is clinically proven for safe and effective use as a moisturizer. Its moisturizing properties may make the product an effective lube and allow for longer-lasting sexual intercourse.

For women going through menopause, coconut oil may be especially helpful. It’s common to experience the following symptoms during menopause that may increase the need for lube:

- Vaginal dryness, pain during sex, loss of fatty tissue, which creates thinner tissue around vaginal skin in particular, vaginal atrophy may be combatted with more frequent sex, so it’s important to deal with any pain associated with sex.

For those with allergies or sensitive skin, choosing a more natural option like coconut oil, with no added chemicals or toxins, can also make for an appealing lubricant.

You may want to look for unrefined coconut oil, as refined oils are more processed. Unrefined coconut oil doesn’t undergo the bleaching process that happens with refined coconut oil.

5 BENEFITS OF SHEA BUTTER YOU DIDN'T KNOW

1. Shea butter is great for moisturizing your skin

Shea butter is a great moisturizer for the face and the body. It locks in the moisture in the skin and keeps it hydrated for long. Shea butter can nourish the skin with its fat content. It can also help to soften the skin on your hands and feet and make it supple. It penetrates the skin easily and is effective for dry skin.

2. It helps in the treatment of acne and blemishes

Shea butter is known for its healing properties, which can be attributed to the presence of several fatty acids. Raw, unrefined shea butter is effective in curing skin rashes, skin peeling after tanning, scars, stretch marks, frost bites, burns, athletes foot, insect bites and stings, and acne.

3. Shea butter helps prevent hair loss

The fatty acids of shea butter condition the scalp and hair while also providing essential nutrients that improve both scalp and hair health. They make hair follicles stronger and reduce hair fall and hair loss. Another important property of shea butter that can prevent hair loss is its anti-inflammatory properties.

4. It is of great help in reducing razor irritation and bumps

Shea butter can help reduce razor irritation and bumps as it soothes the irritated skin. It can also be applied a day prior to shaving to smoothen the skin and hair. This will make the shaving process easier and faster and doesn't leave any irritated spots behind

5. It is a natural anti-aging method

Shea butter is considered as one of the best anti-aging agents for the skin. The vitamins A and E found in this butter keep the skin supple, nourished, and radiant. If used regularly, it reduces wrinkles and also prevents premature wrinkles and facial lines. Its anti-aging properties can also be attributed to its ability to increase circulation to the skin and promote cell renewal.

What is Shea Butter?

Shea butter is a type of fat usually gotten from the nut of the African shea tree (Vitellaria Paradoxa). It is usually yellow in colour when raw, with unrefined, refined, and ultra-refined shea butter being ivory or white in colour. Shea butter is a triglyceride (fat) derived mainly from stearic acid and oleic acid. Shea butter is used in cosmetics as a moisturizer, salve or lotion. It is an edible product and africans use it in preparing food. Sometimes, the chocolate industry uses shea butter mixed with other oils as a substitute for cocoa butter, although it is easily noticable due to the change in taste.

Shea butter is mainly used in the cosmetics industry for the production of skin and hair related products e.g lip gloss, skin moisturizer creams and hair conditioners for dry and brittle hair. soap makers also use it in small amounts like 5–7% of the oils, because it has higher amounts result in softer soaps that have less cleaning abilities. Some artisan soap makers use shea butter in amounts to 25% – with the European Union regulating the maximum use around 28%, but it is rarely the case in commercially produced soap due to its high cost against oils like palm oil or olive oil. Shea butter is very effective for people who suffer dry skin conditions.

*HEALTH BENEFITS OF BLACK PEPPER*

There are several potential health benefits of black pepper for the body and brain, and many of them come from the black pepper compound piperine.

- HIGH IN ANTIOXIDANTS

Piperine, the plant compound in black pepper, has strong antioxidant properties.

The body creates free radicals, unstable molecules that can damage cells, both naturally and in response to environmental stresses. Excess free radical damage can lead to serious health problems, including inflammatory diseases, heart disease, and certain cancers.

- ANTI-INFLAMMATORY PROPERTIES

Studies suggest that piperine may help ease inflammation.

Another study suggests piperine’s anti-inflammatory properties may help protect renal tissue damage associated with ischemia-reperfusion. Ischemia-reperfusion refers to tissue damage that occurs when a part of the body does not receive enough oxygen.

Researchers have also found that specific piperine supplements may help decrease the chronic inflammation that people with metabolic syndrome experience, but more human research is necessary.

ANTIBACTERIAL PROPERTIES

A handful of reviews and studies point to piperine’s antibacterial potential.

For example, after a small review of studies involving black pepper’s antibacterial properties against gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus, researchers concluded the spice could be a powerful ingredient for future therapies against both infectious diseases and foodborne pathogens.

Another larger scale review examined lab and human studies involving the many pharmacological properties of piperine, including antibacterial properties.

Similarly, one test tube study found that piperine and piperlongumine — a component of the long pepper plant — may help fight multidrug-resistant pathogens. The study’s authors concluded that both compounds might be helpful as bioactive compounds for new antibacterial drugs.

CANCER-FIGHTING PROPERTIES

Piperine in black pepper may have cancer-fighting properties.

For example, one comprehensive review of spices and cancer treatments notes that studies found piperine suppressed cancer cell replication in breast, prostate, and colon cancer.

Similarly, the substance showed promise as a therapeutic agent in treating osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. However, more scientists need to conduct more studies to investigate this effect fully.

INCREASING GOOD CHOLESTEROL

Researchers conducted a study of piglets randomly assigned a diet supplemented with or without black pepper and noted changes during their growing and fattening periods.

They found the piglets that consumed a diet supplemented with black pepper experienced a significant increase in high-density lipoprotein — which people call the “good cholesterol” — compared to other piglets.

The researchers believe these results might warrant further studies to explore the potential beneficial effects on lipid metabolism in humans.

HELPING BLOOD SUGAR CONTROL

A small 2013 study on humans on the effects of a supplement containing several bioactive food ingredients — including piperine — on insulin resistance found an improvement in insulin sensitivity. This means the hormone insulin was better able to regulate the uptake of glucose.

However, because the supplement contained multiple food ingredients, it is not clear if piperine alone would have produced the same results.

NUTRIENT ABSORPTION & GUT HEALTH

Black pepper may help boost nutrient absorption, as well as display prebiotic-like behavior, helping regulate intestinal microbiota and enhance gastrointestinal health.

BOOSTING BRAIN FUNCTION

Several animal studies have shown piperine may improve brain function, particularly for symptoms associated with degenerative brain conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease.

For example, researchers have found that piperine helped improve memory in rats with Alzheimer’s, as well as reducing the formation of amyloid plaques. These are damaging protein fragments that first develop in the areas of the brain linked with memory and cognitive function.

A study on humans found an association between Alzheimer’s and levels of piperine, but the researchers concluded they were not able to draw a reason for the link and stated more research is necessary.
