Uterine fibroids also known as uterine leiomyomas and uterine myomas are one of the most occuring tumors of the female reproductive system. Fibriods are non-cancerous tumors that grow from the muscle layers of the womb. These benign growths of smooth muscle can vary from the size of a bean to the size of a small grapefruit.

- Over 99 percent of reported fibriod cases, the tumors are benign (non-cancerous).

- Each tumor develops from an aberrant muscle cell, which appear to develop rapidly when estrogen levels are higher.

- Most people experience no symptoms, but they can include lower backache, constipation, and excessive or painful uterine bleeding leading to anemia.

What are the symptoms?
