Shocking footage captures the moment a callous thief stole a football shirt left outside the Thai embassy in London in memory of Leicester City’s chairman. A man was caught on CCTV loitering around the entrance to the embassy before snatching the shirt and stuffing it into his rucksack. It had been left by mourners paying respects to the football club owner and chairman tragically killed in a helicopter crash last Saturday.

The theft happened just after 3pm on Monday, just hours after the shirt had been placed along with a club scarf and handwritten note in memory of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. According to The Sun, the note read: ‘R.I.P Vichai, you made every Leicester fans dream a reality’.

The Thai billionaire was killed after the helicopter which picked him up from King Power Stadium on Saturday night crashed in a car park just seconds after taking off.

Pilots Eric Swaffer and Izabela Lechowicz were killed as well as Srivaddhanaprabha’s employees Nusara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare. The black box recorder from the helicopter has been found and investigators are still carrying out forensic work on the wreckage

On Wednesday, an investigator said a ‘ major failure of the tail rotor’ was responsible for the crash. Tony Cable, a former senior investigator at the Air Accident Investigations Branch (AAIB), assessed poignant footage of the chopper as it descended from the skies just hours after Leicester’s 1-1 draw with West Ham. Speaking to Sky News’ Kay Burley Show, he alluded to ‘white pieces’ seen ‘flying off’ the helicopter as it left the pitch. Hundreds of people have also laid flowers, cards, and football shirts outside the stadium to pay their respects to the much-loved chairman and owner, credited with being a key player in the club’s incredible 2016 Premier League win.

Under the ownership of the self-made Thai billionaire, Leicester city rose out of the Championship and eventually won the Premier League for the first time in its history, defying odds of 5,000-1.
