Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has called on the Federal Government to develop the seven grazing reserves donated by Nasarawa State to help address the clashes between farmers and herders.

Governor Al-Makura spoke, yesterday, during a stakeholders’ meeting on farmers/herders crisis organised by the state government in collaboration with the Presidential Committee on Farmers/Herders Crises, in Lafia.

Represented by his Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Osegba, Al-Makura also suggested the need for both Federal and state governments to encourage the establishment of ranches by individuals, groups and organisations for cattle rearing.

He also disclosed that as part of measures to promote peace in the state, his government had established community-based conflict resolution committees at state, local government/development areas, district and village levels to amicably resolve conflict that might arise from warring parties in community.

Down here in the south, you apply for land for farming and you're given on lease by government. Why are Herdsmen too lazy to ranch cattle? Why can't this people do things that would bring lasting peace? Is it shifting cultivation that is the herders' problem? Or irrigation farming using 'lambu' style to grow grasses? Or making hay from grass fields?

Is it a law that anyone who owns cattle must never deploy capital other than the initial one spent to acquire the herd?

Why don't Fulani Herdsmen move their 'lovely kids' cows to Kano, Sokoto ad Sambisa for Allah sake and leave we the Middle belt and South out of their wahala...?

Sitting Gov begging for cattle ranching is totally shameful.....!

Painful fact is that these Fulanis are not Nigerians in anyway except that they stole a throne in Sokoto 1808 and got away with it.
