Cesc Fabregas is hoping for more opportunities from Maurizio Sarri after ending Derby’s Carabao Cup hopes with Chelsea’s winner in a 3-2 victory at Stamford Bridge. The 31-year-old midfielder has been limited to one Premier League appearance this season and has had to settle for game-time in Chelsea’s cup competitions since Sarri’s arrival in the summer. Frank Lampard’s visitors twice came from behind after own goals from Fikayo Tomori and Richard Keogh, but Fabregas’ strike in the 41st minute secured Chelsea’s place in the quarter-finals.

Fabregas understands that he can no longer play every match for the Blues, but he hopes he proved to Sarri that he can be more than just back-up for Jorginho.

While Sarri has mainly played Fabregas at the base of Chelsea’s midfield, the former Barcelona star believes he can do a job for the team in a more attacking position.

‘I didn’t play in the league for the first three or four months under Antonio Conte until a game against Manchester City, which changed my way in Antonio’s head. After that I played in every game,’ he added.http://sidesport..com/2018/11/why-cesc-fabregas-asked-maurizio-sarri.html?m=1
