Court Order And TUC Not To Embark On Strike by farm2008: 5:02pm On Nov 02, 2018
The National Industrial Court of Nigeria in Abuja has ordered the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to suspend their planned indefinite strike scheduled to commence on November 6.
Justice Sanusi Kado on Friday ruled in an ex parte application moved on behalf of the Federal Government by the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mr. Dayo Apata.
Justice Kado agreed with the submission of Apata that if the strike is allowed, it would cripple the country’s economy and could jeopardise the health of many Nigerians who would not be able to access health facilities during the period.
The organised labour had this week warned of its planned industrial action from Tuesday November 6 to press for a new minimum wage from N18, 000 to N30, 000 both in public and private sectors.
Meanwhile, the judge has fixed November 8 for hearing of the motion on notice in support of the application

The essence of strike is to cripple the economy and force government to negotiate.
