No one is saying it is not the best na.. Can't u people understand?

It used to be one leg final before na but they stopped becus fans weren't going to the stadium to watch the match..

If they host the final for instance in Nigeria now and the match is between a Kenyan team and a Tunisian team, how many Nigerians will go to the stadium to watch it?

Or do u want our own finals to be played in empty stadium?

How many Kenyans for instance can afford to travel to Nigeria, book hotel, pay for tickets to watch their team play here in Nigeria?

Like I said, Africa is large and we don't have transports system that links countries in Africa..

We can't afford to play our caf champions league final in an empty stadium..

So no body is saying one leg is not good but CAF had to stop the one leg final becus Africans don't go to watch visiting teams....

AFCON is different becus it has some of Africans European based players.. U will be glad to go and watch Mohammed Salah.. But how many Ahly players do u know that can make u want to spend 500k to travel to go and watch Ahly okay final in Kenya? grin
Make the football attractive and fans will come. If El classico or Manchester derby is played anywhere in the world, fans will find their way to get there. A neutral ground final gives no team an edge and reduce room for violence

Ahhhhhh.. This guy, go and sleep! South African league and the leagues in North Africa are all good standard leagues..

How many of una dey follow am?

The Brazilian league is one of the best in the world and has produced great talents... How many of u dey follow am?

The American league is good too, how many of una dey follow am?

U think it is about making attractive?

Barcelona was in South Africa about a month ago, how many Nigerians could afford to spend over 500k to go watcg the match they played against soundows?

Now, the north Africans already love their league. The north Africans go to their stadium to watch their local leagues even when top clubs in Europe play matches.. If u follow the north Africans leagues, u will notice how passionate they come to the stadium to watch their clubs..

However, Africa does not have that inter country transportation system that is affordable that can pull 10 thousand fans from other countries to go watch a match..

To even get visa to travel to these countries are so hard.

Most cities in Africa don't have direct flights and rail services that link directly to other countries..

For instance, no direct flight from Cape Town to Cairo.. Ans no rail service..

Bro, forget it, one leg final can't work now.. It is not about attractive.. At least home clubs in caf champions league do get massive crowd. But these crowd don't have the access to easily and affordable travel to other countries to watch their clubs..

Other continents with similar geographic location like Africa also use two leg final..

The one leg final seems right to u becus it is done in Europe.. And u have never sat down to know why some continents play two leg final abi.

That is one problem with millions of Nigerians.. They don't have the power of research and critical reasoning..

Now, Africa is very large in land mass. Unlike Europe, countries are few drive away from one another..

U can imagine a final between an Egyptian team and a Nigerian team. How many Nigerian fans can travel to let sey South Africa to watch the final?

Also, if Ahly is playing in Nigeria, how many of u will come out to watch it?

Unlike European clubs, African clubs don't have large fan base outside their home countries..

Unlike Europeans, Africans are not rich. Have u checked how much it cost to travel to Egypt for example.. How many Nigerians can afford such luxury just to go and watch football?

They tried this one leg final but it didn't work. Fans couldn't travel. Europe is close to one another, they have train network properly working..

Tell African govt to do more to link African countries together..

U don't have to insult Africans for this..

Finally, I'm sure if Europeans are doing two leg final, and Africans are doing one leg final, u would have insulted Africans for doing one leg final..

One leg final only seem right to u becus Europeans do it. Not only Africa do this two leg final, okay.
Keep quiet.

A two legged final is archaic.

Even CAF has contemplated changing it!

There is nothing to grow beyond here. Reality in Africa is different from what obtains in Europe and we don't have to do things the same way.

Africa is a bigger continent than Europe with more countries and poorer citizens and travel conditions.

Imagine Ahly (Egypt) vs Esperance (Tunisia) final played as one leg game in Capetown South Africa. The distance is farther than Lagos-London and cost more. Imagine the costs to the teams, journalists, fans of both clubs etc. How many will be able to make the trip? How many South Africans will bother to pay to attend the match? It will be a dry game played in an empty stadium.

Hope you get the point.
South Africans would watch it.
Even in European finals, a very large number of the spectators are constituted by people from the hosting nation.

No one is saying it is not the best.. But Africa can't afford that for now..

First Africans need to be lifted out of poverty so that they can afford to travel to other African countries without breaking the bank..

Secondly, African countries need to build transport infrastructures to link countries within the continent.. Though that would be hard since Africa is very large..

OK, Zamalek vs TP Mazembe at Teslim Balogun Stadium. Will you travel down to Agege and pay N500 to enter the stadium and travel back home just to watch this match?

Two, the Ahly vs Esperance game on TV, did you watch it? If you did, how many people watched it on your street? Why then do you think South Africans will watch it?

Three, Sundowns and Bidvest were in the same CAF Champs League this season. How many people watched their home games live?

Case rested.

The African cup of nations is hosted by one or at most two countries.
Who are the people that watch them?

Are they Europeans?

Do they not travel from across various nations to the match venues?

Why are they not hampered by the poor travel conditions and the poverty of the citizens as you claim?

your point is archaic you cannot compare the popularity of the Afcon to the caf champions league. Africa is large and underdeveloped in terms of transport system 2 leg final is the best after all eyimba went to Egypt and still won't the caf champions league back then

So it's about popularity now?

The point is if Africans are sufficiently motivated, they will make it to match venues regardless of transport conditions and perceived poverty levels.
Once again, a very large part of the spectators will come from the host country.

Remember host venues will be announced at least two years in advance so people are not just caught unawares.

BTW how can a point be archaic?

We are dealing facts and not hypothesizing. And the facts are staring you in the face?

When Enyimba hosted Raja Casablanca in Aba and Super Eagles hosted Libya in Uyo, which game had more spectators and more live viewers on TV and online?

The national teams carry more clout and command more followers in Africa than the clubs. This is because they tend to have better known players who have fan following.

I ask again if you saw the CAF Champs League final 1st leg live on TV and that if the CAF Super Cup 2019, possibly between Ahly and Raja were to be played in Abuja, will you travel to watch it?

These are the challenges we have in Africa hence dual legged finals will suffice for now.

Oh!

I thought it was poverty and a bad road network.

How has it become about clout all of a sudden?

If you announce Abuja or Uyo as the venue of the CAF champions league two years in advance as obtainable in Europe, people will travel to watch. What's the difference?

Do people not travel to watch the away games of two -legged finals?

Oga what the dude is saying is true
let's use you as a case study

-Do u follow any Nigerian or African Team?

-How many Nigerian league matches have u been to?

-Can u pay 300k+ to watch at least 3 away games.(that's for group stage oooh)If ur team eventually reaches final that is 7 away games
Calculate cost of flight ticket or any transport mode, hotel bills and other miscellaneous expenses u must spend since u are in a foreign environment

-If for example, raja Casablanca of morocco and Sundowns of Southafrica were to play a CAF final in Lagos or Uyo or even Cameroon, would u go

*****Note*****
U may be able to do all these but majority of Africans can't due to the high levels of poverty, bad terrain and Apathy among football fans. How many African teams have fanbase outside their country?

Apart from Supersports, which other TV company airs live african TV matches. And we are comparing ourselves to Europe which have Sky sports, BT sports,UEFA TV,etc..... Bein sports?

Abeg let us not even compare ourselves to Europe at all.An average earning European can spend €1000 to watch an away game. Some even use their private cars to do inter country travel. Do u know cyclists travel from London in UK to Rome in Italy.Live in Europe is easy and stressfree
How many Nigerians fit afford (€1000=N420k) just to watch a football match. Is there any good roadnetwork linking Borno state and Chad or Niger.

Abeg make we leave this matter. For now CAF can't afford to conduct a 1 leg final match. No be person wey doh chop go,go stadium watch match?

CAF Is an administrative organization. They need money to run.A scanty stadium for a final is a business disaster. Low ticket sales,Low TV earnings, Little or no Investors, all of these are not good for businesses.

The quality of football in Europe is high because the standard of living is high.A private individual can own and run a football club effectively without any government intercession......But here in Nigerian(Africa as whole)most clubs are run by the governments. A clear depiction of the living conditions of the people.

Is it not recently,Abia state government completed building Enyimba Stadium. A stadium that a middle class British Man built for a Division 3 team is what a State government is building for a Division 1 club in Nigeria.....And we are comparing ourselves to Europe.Whetin sef?I doh talk too much
