The National Industrial Court in Abuja has ordered the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) to suspend their planned indefinite strike scheduled to commence on November 6.
Justice Sanusi Kado yesterday barred organised labour from embarking on the strike pending the hearing and determination of the claimant/applicants’ motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.

Justice Kado ruled in an ex-parte application moved behalf of the federal government by the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mr. Dayo Apata.
Justice Kado agreed with the submission of Apata that if the strike was allowed, it would cripple the country’s economy and could jeopardise the health of many Nigerians who would not be able to access health facilities during the period and other emergency services. The judge fixed November 8 for hearing.
