We borrow from China at high interest rates along with stringent conditions, then turn around and dash it out. Why not loan the money to them? |

This is arrant nonsense. Who asks us to do big brother now? We haven't mended our leaking roof we are busy mending the roof of others. Let our government go out to raise funds to save Leah Shuaib pls. If this was given to boko haram as ransome or added to buy weapons to fight terrorists it would been understandable |

A country going cap in hand to beg the Chinese for loans is busy giving out money to another country to conduct elections without first cleaning up its own electoral process. Misplaced priorities. |

What the fvck is wrong with NIGERIA? This is a classic case of a man who spent his precious time chasing after a rodent while his home was on fire. Where does Nigeria come off donating $500K to support Guinea Bissau in its election while its own electoral process is in shambles? Even the BIBLE tells us that charity begins at home. You have to take care of the home front before you have to worry and venture outside. This is an example of misplaced priorities. Nigeria wants to be looked upon as the giant of Africa but in reality, the world sees the country as a corrupt and failed state whose citizens live in abject poverty. What does it profit Nigeria to act all big and mighty and have nothing to show for it in the final analysis? I often wonder whether those who handle the affairs of this country actually breathe the same air as the masses and are born of women? I pose these questions because their actions and thought processes are bereft of any logic and common sense. Enough said! |

chily11: The US is the biggest debtor nation in the world, as well as the biggest ''aid'' giver. So your point is senseless. |

ZarahBuhari: Dude abeg. That $500k is what one local govt chairman will chop in his sleep, and you'll know nothing about it. Our problem is not that $500k to Guinea Bissau. Tomorrow you people will call yourselves christians and muslims. I wonder what you learn in your religions that makes you frown on helping your neighbour. I don't recall Jesus' or 'Muhammed' saying you should not help your neighbour until your own belly is full. |

Re: Nigeria Donates $ 500 ,000 To Support Guinea Bissau Election by Rossikki: 9:20pm On Nov 04, 2018 |
Guide777: Why not? A man could seek to rescue his drowning child, wife, or friend, even if he himself is in trouble. Didn't they teach you that in your church? Or was the pastor only talking about helping yourself, as usual? 1 Like |

Alanzazani: If we lack capacity, how can we dominate their economy? The Chinese are going in there with their manufactured goods, and their engineering capabilities, and their capital, to build things. WE in Nigeria are relying on those same Chinese to build our railways, airports etc. So how could we have gone to Liberia to do what we are not able to do for ourselves here in Nigeria? We need to develop indigenous capacity. Stop inviting South Africans and others to build our shopping malls for starters. If at this stage we cannot build international standard shopping malls without foreign help, we might as well pack up and go home, because we're useless. 1 Like |

themanderon: Nigeria is not going cap in hand and begging anybody for loans. Loans are offered, or requested, and not 'begged' for, in the international financial system. Loans are transactions in which both parties benefit. They are not 'favours'. Oh, and the USA is the biggest debtor nation on earth - owing trillions of dollars to China and others, but it is also the biggest aid donor on earth, so your points make no sense. 1 Like |

Rossikki:Don't be a fool! You have to save yourself first to save others, otherwise all of you will go down. Come to the real fact, Nigeria is in economic distress, borrowing to finance its budget, begging for donors to fund its 2019 election yet you think its wise to for it fund another country's election. A rescuer must be rescuing from the position of power not weakness. |

Rossikki: And you that is making sense does it make sense to you that a nation that is requesting for loan is giving out of it's meagre resources to another nation? And have you ever asked yourself how the same government intends paying back these loans if not laying the burden of payment on another government thereby further sinking the country? Mind you the America you mentioned uses it own loans judiciously and they are more than capable of repaying them unlike here where billions have been loaned but there is nothing to show for it but the ever rising debt profile. |
